Going to up dosage on Sunday, need advice

I've been on Lexapro 10mg for approximately 7.5 weeks and for the past week I've been through hell and had a breakdown. (Its good to know that I can still cry) I would like to know that when I up my medication to 20mg should I expect to go through the same startup anxiety as I did with my initial startup with Lexapro? My obsessional thinking has gone out of control for the past week and has put me back in to a slight depression but I'm wondering if upping the dose will increase this thinking.

After taking Lexapro I have experienced the following:

Loss of memory(I cant remember things like I used to)
A little bit of derealization and depersonalization
Obsessional thoughts seem to have gotten stronger and started taking a toll on me.

Will the 20mg make me fall more further down this rabbit hole? I feel like I'm in a desert and my old self is a mirage of who I used to be and I'm just so thirsty for it but I know that its not there. I know I need to accept who I am now but its just so hard.

AK,

An increase should not give you as much of a bump in anxiety as your start up.

You may notice some effects temporarily...but not lasting as long, or as intense as before.

I am sorry you are having a rough time currently.:( Work your self help...therapy, good health habits...

...and hopefully this increase in combination with the above will be just what you need for your management plan!

Aloha,

I think everyone is different with reactions to meds.

When I increased from 20mg to 30mg of Lexapro I felt better within 2 days.

However, like SC said, it may take longer with continued side effects.

@Aus_Dad I agree with the reactions I guess im wondering if this is the right medication for me? I know that it can be used to treat OCD but I guess im just having a hard time accepting everything. With regards to the increase you may see a spike in symptoms but it should not be the same severity as the initial start up I hope 20mg works well for you keep us posted.
