farewell everyone , I will no longer be on this forum .... one person on this forum has issues with people who believe in God , and does not want people to say that God healed them , I thought in 2016 our world was changed and people had the right to have there own beliefs .... I will never change for anyone ! I know God healed ME!!!

Good Luck Everyone ! Will miss you all !!!

I am going to ask you to reconsider...so please hear me out.

I am a fellow Christian, so know that we are coming from the same place as far as faith goes...

For this reason, I ask that you reconsider your decision...and abide by the rules in spite of your convictions/beliefs.

I had to realize when I was faced with rule #6...that there is a time and place for all things.

This is a support community for anxiety related issues. This is our first and foremost directive.

If you were to go to a bible study with the purpose of learning...

...and someone was redirecting the meetings with talk about their anxiety...

...to be honest, you might be frustrated, right?

Or consider this...

....if someone was posting detailed religious passages from another religion (Buddism, Hinduism, Muslim)...you might feel less than comfortable with this...

To say a general "I'll pray for you."...or "God bless" is allowed...and does negate your faith in any way.

In fact, it shows that you are confident enough in your beliefs to be showing respect to the rules, and all people here

...and be a voice and presence who can help others.:)

Hoping you'll have a change of heart.

What bothers me is this politically correct atheist has used a rule to put her down, I know of no other person that was ever offended by her love of God!
Also it was not his place to invoke rule 6 or any other rule that would have been the monitors not a member!

I am sorry that someone made you upset but I agree with others, you are a very supportive member, a dear HW friend and a valuable part of this family. Like any other member here...

Everyone thinks in a different way, and they have a right to express their thoughts on belief. Of course towards any HW member, offensive manners are not tolerated in forums, I am sure of it.

You showed everyone the power of your mind, the power of your faith and above all, your will to get better.
Trust our admins, block that person, make yourself a cup of tea (with coconut chocolate cookies as snack) and enjoy this nice day :)

As a fellow Christian, I agree with SC. I also agree with Larry. A lot of people should use the ignore feature. If that had happened in the first place, there wouldn't be an issue here.

I think it's a shame that we can't share our belief in faith as a form of healing just as any coping skill or medication is discussed. A lot of websites that I'm a member of actually have a forum for religion. Maybe someday the owner will see fit to allow one.

Anyone who doesn't want to be a part of the discussion can just stay away from it.

At the end of the day, this forum has more positives than negatives, and I feel that the information and support is vital to so many lives. I've met friends here who I communicate with via phone and e-mail.

Also, I don't think it's against the rules to include a bible verse in your signature. I've definitely seen that with no problems.

Pray about it, and do what's best for you.

Larry - I am not a "politically correct atheist" or, for that matter, an atheist at all. To the contrary, I practice a religion and I have studied the Christian bible and other religious texts. I simply believe that when a forum's rules prohibit overly religious statements, participants should abide by that rule -- even if they do not agree with it. That does not mean they should not believe in their faith. They should just not use this forum as a vehicle to discuss or advocate it.

My reaction is certainly not aimed at any particular religion -- I would have the same reaction if the poster wrote about the divinity, special powers or virtues of Allah, or Satan, or Zoroaster or Vishnu. And I also would have the same reaction if someone's forum signature asserted that there is no such thing as God and that prayer is a useless act. Comments in favor or, or in opposition to, any divine being or any religion are beyond the scope of this forum. (There are lots of other good forums on the internet to discuss religion, the bible, etc).

If I have offended anyone through my suggestion that we all comply with the rules of this forum, I apologize. It was certainly not my intention to offend, or to increase anyone's anxiety level.

PS: The suggestion by Jake's Mom for a separate forum on religion seems like a reasonable one. That way, people who want to discuss religion, or write religious quotes, or talk about how and why they pray, or debate who is their favorite god or prophet, etc., could do all of that in a separate forum. People who want to engage in that discussion would know where to go....

Being "progressive" is not a bad thing, is it Larry? What should one be if not progressive? Retrograde? Reactionary? Regressive?

In any event, adhering to the rules of this forum is neither progressive nor regressive. It is simply an act of decency. This forum has been generously provided for us by the Administrator. We do not own it; we are guests here. And as guests, we should observe the forum's rules.

Oh, yuck. Rule police and name calling. 2 reasons that I really dislike internet message boards. We all came here to get help and support. As anxiety sufferers, we ALL know that we need all the help we can get and we're also super sensitive in general. Can we just chill out a bit?

Larry, my friend, neither you nor I decide what is permitted or not permitted here. That has been done for us by the Administrator. He has specifically instructed us to avoid overtly religious discussion. (There is a very good reason for that; religious discussions on internet forums tend to be be divisive and counterproductive). Why are you so adamant that people here should do what the Administrator has asked us not to do? And why do you feel it is productive to mock me, or progressive people, or anyone else? What does your sarcasm and your mockery achieve?

As Accept says, this is a place to help people who are suffering with anxiety. It is not a place to advocate your religious beliefs or to insult or mock other people.

Medved, but honestly, who cares? Personally I'm secular and unfortunately fall into that progressive politically correct category more than I'd like to admit. But I realize, that if "I'm" offended, more times than not, it's "my" problem. If I took offense to someone talking about their religious beliefs (which i don't), I'd simply block them. That way, I don't have to read things that bother me AND i'm not telling someone else that they must change their behavior to suit me. If she was telling someone else that their religion or belief system was wrong, yeah, I'd agree that it's wrong, however, that's not what's going on.

And as far as rules go, she's not hurting anyone, or selling anything or being a troll, so again, who cares? If we're so literal on "rules", I'd probably be in jail for all the times I drove 26 mph in a 25.

Can we just hug it out? Here's a smurf smurf smilewinkgrin

Well, I was hoping to hear from SOIA\ATHMR before locking down this thread...

...but I'm afraid the time has come to do so now.

I think we've all said (maybe more than) enough.

Remember the 'Ignore Feature' can, and in some cases should be used in order to keep things peaceful.
