Death felt imminent

Hi.. soon as I awoke from sleep in the morning recently and I took a diazapam (2mg) the night before, I had an extremely strong sensation, no pain or anything that my heart was seconds away from stopping death felt imminent. Physicaly there was nothing going on,there was no other symptoms and didn't really feel like a panic attack ??

That may well be a morning anxiety, which is common with anxiety disorders.
I think you experienced a type of doom sensation, a very common anxiety symptom.

I am almost always waking up to a racing heart and a floating feeling in the mornings. In a couple of minutes it goes away.

i'm sorry you had to go thru that,
I felt like that one morning last week, I've never felt like that before,
and it is terrifying.

Morning anxiety is really common. When the body wakes from it's most relaxed state there's a surge of lots of different hormones and what not making it feel like something bad is happening when really its your body being jolted awake.

Those negative/fearful thoughts are so awful aren't they? I think we have all had something similar to what you describe...so know you are not alone.

To help combat these thoughts, you could use the therapy worksheets in the Resources. Going through the steps to diffuse the negative messages your anxiety is trying to make you believe will be worth your efforts!

The second i woke from sleep the feeling was so strong, something in my head was telling me my heart was gonna stop in a matter of seconds. But I wasn't really in panic mode. It was strange and scary !
