I've always been into bicycling, so didn't really need a reason to jump back into it, but a few weeks ago I got a new bike and have started hitting the trails near where I live pretty hard.
I'm usually riding about
45 mins to an hour and average about
135 bmp heartbeat, sometimes up to 160 if I'm really huffing it. My Apple Watch is helpful for tracking workouts.
Well a few days ago I came across an article that says through aerobic exercise (to the point where you work up a good sweat) your brain can generate new neurons and these neurons are in the frontal cortex and middle part of the brain, the latter of which I believe helps with emotion and memory. Previously scientists didn't think adults grew new neurons.
In any event, over the past two weeks I've started to feel so much better...mind is calmer and seems "stronger" emotionally. I've had a few low-level anxiety events during this time, but they haven't been overwhelming.
Just sharing to see if anyone else if a big biker or aerobic exercise junkie. Does it help with your anxiety?

AT,
Yep! Exercise has been proven in reducing anxiety and depression! It can be an amazing part of anyone's recovery plan, no matter what level!
I get my fair share of exercise through work, teaching anywhere from 11-15 dance classes a week. I don't just delegate...I dance through the entire lesson alongside my students.
I also ride my bike, walk regularly, and tend to get out and active just for fun.
Great job on hitting the trails again...keep it up, and enjoy those great results! :)
