Quitting Lexapro

Anyone here have any insight to quitting lexapro and what you went through? I already know that there will be withdrawl symptoms so thats expected, but just want to know how bad was it? Going to talk to my PDOC about it and want to ween slowly.

I stopped lexapro after probably 6 years. I stopped cold turkey I don't recommend that but the pharmacist said it's such a low dose that there's really no need to taper and I did have some weird sensations for a couple of weeks like the "brain zaps" I also lost all the weight I gained on it though! It really wasn't difficult coming off of it for me now ativan on the other hand is giving me a run for my money unfortunately and I've only been on 1mg a day for like 6 months. That I am tapering off of slowly but Lexapro was a fairly easy medication to get off of for me at least but if you are at a higher dose definitely taper there just wasn't much for me to taper too on the amount I was on.

I have been on lexapro three times before in my life. 8 months at the max and I would take half a pill of the 10mg. I never had any issue coming off of it. I just had to wean myself off slowly for about a week or so. Just talk to your doctor and he will explain the best way to wean off. You will be just fine 🙂
