"For the past few days I've been having chest pains that feel sharp and stabbing. I also noticed the pain goes down into my left arm but it's not a stabbing pain it's more like sore and achy pain. It would happen for maybe 30 minutes to an hour and then go away but it always comes back the next day for the same amount of time. And then today out of nowhere I got really short of breath for like 20 minutes and then when I started breathing normally again I had a lot of chest pains afterwards. I'm really scared I might have a heart attack."
On the opening web page, by typing "chest pain symptoms" into the search engine, WebMD says:
Heart Attack Symptoms
Symptoms of a heart attack include:
• Discomfort, pressure, heaviness, or pain in the chest, arm, or below the breastbone
• Discomfort radiating to the back, jaw, throat, or arm
• Fullness, indigestion, or choking feeling (may feel like heartburn)
• Sweating, nausea, vomiting, or dizziness
• Extreme weakness, anxiety, or shortness of breath
• Rapid or irregular heartbeats
During a heart attack, symptoms last 30 minutes or longer and are not relieved by rest or nitroglycerin under the tongue.
Some people have a heart attack without having any symptoms (a "silent" myocardial infarction). A silent MI can occur in anyone, but it is more common among people with diabetes.

Under rapid heart beat on the web search engine, WebMD:
• Treatment of Heart Palpitations
Heart palpitations are a feeling that your heart is beating too hard or too fast, skipping a beat, or fluttering. You may notice heart palpitations in your chest, throat, or neck.
Heart palpitations can be bothersome or frightening. They usually aren't serious or harmful, though, and often go away on their own.
Most of the time, they're related to stress and anxiety or to consumption of stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine, or alcohol.
Palpitations also often occur during pregnancy.
In rare cases, palpitations can be a sign of a more serious heart condition. Therefore, if you have heart palpitations, make arrangements to see your doctor. And seek immediate medical attention if along with palpitations, you experience shortness of breath, dizziness, chest pain, or fainting.
If your doctor finds that your palpitations are related to an underlying condition, such as anemia, the focus will be on treating that condition. If the palpitations are caused by a medication, your doctor will try to find another medication you can use. If the palpitations represent an arrhythmia, medications or procedures may be required.
You may also be referred to a heart rhythm specialist known as an electrophysiologist.
-----------------------------
From this last sentence above, you may want to see a electrophysiologist to see if he or she knows anything that will slow down a rapid heartbeat.
Can your psy. give you anything for anxiety that might slow down your rapid heart beat? Have you had it a long time? Is there extra stress in your life?
I had chest pain off and on for 10 years from a stressful marriage, but the rough marriage had been going on for so long, I never attributed it to that. But when the marriage was over, the chest pain basically ended.
Is there long term stress in your life that you may be overlooking, because it's been going on for so long?
Do you deal with problems pretty well? When I'm positive going into a problem, the stress drops, because I think I can solve it by having a positive attitude going into the problem that I can solve it.
When I have a neg. attitude going into a problem, the stress goes through the roof, because I feel like an uncontrollable monster is after me. Again, when I'm positive, the monster disappears and it's just a problem that I have to deal with.
When I have a problem and I'm thinking negative, I go: Oh, my Gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm stressed out, because I have blocked myself from solving it, by having a neg. unconscious. I'm the monster.
When a second or two later I switch to positive thinking that I can solve it, the stress just goes away, because I have opened a pathway to defeat the monster, and the monster disappears.
