I'm sorry. I made my psychiatrist appointment 3 months ago. Still have 3 weeks to wait. I know how you feel, it's so discouraging. I had them put me on the waiting list in case they had a cancellation. They called me last week and I got excited when I saw the number. They were calling to cancel my original appointment and re-schedule for 2 weeks later. Something came up they say. Arrgghh.
Can you find a therapist who can see you sooner? They can't prescribe, but they know plenty about meds and can help in other ways. A good therapist can make a world of difference.
It sucks that all you want is help, and the best that can be done is "Just give it 4-6 weeks." and all that sounds like is being sentenced to misery.
But you'll get there. See if you can make an appointment for a face to face with your PCP, instead of just messages. It is your life and your decision about medications. If you can look her in the eye and you feel like she doesn't have your best interest at heart, then maybe it's time to find a new PCP.
If she seems to genuinely care, then she will be open to discussions about alternatives or explain why she thinks that even though you're not comfortable with it, she still thinks it's best.
In the end you have to feel comfortable with your doc and your treatment.
