Prescription/Klonopin Question

Hello,

I recently started seeing psychiatrist who gives me a monthly prescription for clonazepam. He upped the dosage from what I was originally taking and only gave me that 1 fill because I go see him every month.

Prior to that and before I moved I was on 2mg a day and he gave me 3 refills of it and I still have 1 refill left of it.

I am in NO WAY trying to rig the system or try to cause trouble , I am honestly just curious.
So to recap I am currently prescribed 3mg a day. The old prescription from another doctor was 2mg a day with one refill. Am I supposed to just let the old one go to waste and expire?

You can always call and ask your doctor this question, but yes, I think the general assumption is to move forward with the new medication, as you wont need to refill the other.

I mean it's all at the same pharmacy and when I log in online it just says i refill left. (Referring to the old one)

Humble,

Yes, I would let the old refill go. Since benzodiazepines are a controlled substance, pharmacies will flag your refills...so any extra ones will be noted and questioned.

IOW, anything other than a current scrip, from the doctor you are seeing now should be thrown away.

You don't want to appear as if you are 'med seeking' (even though you are not...the system is simply set up to prevent this!)
