Back from Bend, and I Hate The Dentist

Hi HW Family,

Back from my trip to Bend, OR. It was absolutely beautiful and nice to be away for a couple of days. Plane rides weren't all too bad either... but you didn't hear me say that.

This morning I went to the dentist and had to have a cavity filled as well as some other thing and they had to numb me. Within minutes of having the novacaine shot my whole body started to shake and be panicky. I read somewhere that novacaine shots have epinephrine in them which can cause this but was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Yep the injections do that and you can request an injection without. I am not a fan of Denistry either! Got an appt on the 29th for a broken wisdom tooth extraction :(

I posted earlier on someone elses thread. My daughter is a dentist and unless you ask they will always give you the injection that contains adrenaline as it lasts longer and it is cheaper.

I always had a bad reaction to it which i used to put down to phobia of dentists, however my daughter sorted it and now its on my records for adrenaline free and i can now walk out the dentist and not feel rubbish for days. It wears off quicker and so may need 2 needles but to be fair that is so much better than feeling ill for days.

Ask about it next time and believe me the panic is not there .... My Fear of dentists was not fear it was the darned adrenaline fuelled injection xx

I wish I knew about this sooner. I had a tooth removed but when they gave me the shot I flew out if the chair in a panic. They ended up putting me under to remove the tooth. Cost outside of my benefit plan but I couldn't do it any other way.
Now I know this...thanks for the info. You aren't alone in that reaction!

My daughter tells me its common. But for years I just thought I had a phobia of dentists and I was fit for nothing for a couple of days after a visit....
It is great to be able to just walk out the dentist now and function 😀
