Hi RNB and welcome!

I am sorry you are having a tough time currently with this fairly common anxiety symptom. I know how difficult a constant struggle like this feels.

I have had D/P D/R from time to time...but it is not a prominent symptom for me. It is one I can easily just ignore/accept (unlike physical ones)...which is why it doesn't stick around, I am sure.

...but I understand that it is really difficult for you...because we all have our own achilles heel, so to speak, in regards to our anxiety.

It it is great that you have already taken the steps to start your Rx and therapy. These will help with time and continued effort.

Be patient with yourself and the process. Medications do take time to become therapeutic, so practice coping skills now to help you through the start up.

does anyone have it so the D/R Makes you feel like you dont exist? some people say a dream but i dont even feel that way, its scaring me. Im a religious person and it scares me thinking about that. it's been a struggle in my faith.

is having a constant headache a part of this as well? it has been going on for a couple weeks.

Well you are certainly real, and with good cognition...because your post is clear and you are communicating very well!

I am sorry your friend just exacerbated your fears with his comments. Some people don't undertand the effect their words have on us.

I assure you your feelings are fueled by anxiety...and that with continued management efforts, you will find recovery.

I also havent been able to drive or atleast bymyself. sleeping is the hardest. I have a sleep apnea test study on thursday. I havent been getting good rest way before my anxiety got real bad.. it's even harder now with the way im feeling. I hate waking up because i feel confused and lost. Im trying to think positive but it's so hard. even showering is hard because im afraid of being alone. I know i got to hang in there. my thoughts keep telling me that my meds arent working but it hasnt been long enough for them to even kick in. what are somethings to keep me moving today.

I experience DP and DR pretty frequently. For me, it feels like I'm living in a constant dreamlike state, my memories don't feel like their mine, pictures of me seem like another life, etc. It used to be a huge trigger for me, but within the past six months, I chose to ignore it as best as possible. Granted, practice makes perfect, but the more you counter those thoughts with positive ones, or with coping mechanisms, the feelings do start to dissipate.

I agree with SC in that the tools she suggested will really provide a lot of relief.

That's progress, I'd say!

Update, i think my meds are kicking in. Yestarday i felt good and this morning i was doing fine but i kept questioning why i was doing in fine and bam im back into it. the weird thing is i keep thinking nothing is real and im just in a simulation. The meds are working in a sense that i dont get the physical part of the anxeity. meaning like my tensions, shakiness, or anything. i kinda feel numb but afraid. i know im suppose to work on the here and now. but my mind keeps thinking about the future on how i wont go back to feeling normal. tonight i have my sleep study which is making me nervous and anxious. i need to stop reading about people's time they had there.
a plus though is i laughed like really hard for the first time in a long while. my dad was happy to see that. He finally noticed that this feeling was serious and it changed me drastically. i trying my best to keep moving and doing stuff like teacher assistant volunteering when i can. instead of just staying on my computer reading and playing video games. not that it's bad but it was at a point where i didnt even go outside for a week. Thanks for letting me vent.
