Hi,
I had a slight relapse last Saturday but because I'm not really scared of my attacks anymore I hovered nicely between feeling very uncomfortable like I'm hanging off a cliff about
to drop and between rationalizing my thoughts and worries. Anyway, I started 5-htp and I'm feeling like I felt when I was on zoloft 50mg months ago now I'm taking 100mg of 5-htp... i knew lack of seratonin was my issue and I heard of this 5-htp before.. anyways I'm back to my normal Ish self. Was wondering if anyone has tried 5-htp and maybe this post will help someone!

Hi Dog....
...so some ups and downs...but sounds like all in all things are going well.
I am glad to hear that you are managing well with your new regimen. May it continue! 😊

5-htp is an unknown quantity. i steer away from it, as per discussions with my psychiatrist. but, if it helping ya, all good, we are all biochemically different.

What do you mean by unknown quantity? Or do you mean quality?

Well it says 300mg a day 3 times a day, and I did some research and looks like 100mg for mild anxiety and 300 for intense anxiety. Although I am not whatsoever a doc. I took 200 first and my body felt weird so I imminently went down to 100 the next day and it felt just right. I believe with natural supplements you should start at lowest and stay on it for a while until you see your body make positive changes. If it doesn't go up in dosage. But only if you know what your problem is.. if you don't then it's just best to go to doctor

Dog1216, is the 5 HTP still working for you? I have started taking 100 mgs the other day and am not feeling a thing except sleepy. I also started on high BP meds, so it might be that too.
I am trying the natural stuff b/c after 20 years of antidepressants the side effects just drove me nuts.
