Upping Lexapro to 10 mg tomorrow

Here we go again. Been having panic attacks, crying, depressed, irritable, dizzy...etc. You all know what it's like with the anxiety.

Saw my therapist today and cried the entire hour session. She talked to my PDoc and he called me and said he would like me to up my Lexapro from 5 mg to 10 mg tomorrow. I'm okay with doing so, a tiny bit nervous, but going to try it, nonetheless.

My mind always goes to "why do I keep feeling this way with all of the medications that I take"?

Today, my panic attacks (2 of them) were so bad, I seriously felt like I did before I was ever on medication.

Guess I just need some encouragement again. I'm tired...tired of fighting with the anxiety and depression, tired of having to live with this, and just plain tired. I know none of us want to feel this way, I'm feeling sorry for myself at the moment.

I want my old, happy, no worry self back. Sigh...I keep trying, but it isn't working.

Did you ever find a medication that worked? How long you been on lex? My first time zoloft took 3 months to take effect to the full

Yes, I have had success with Paxil many moons ago. Effexor XR has worked great for me in the past as well. Celexa was another medication that I did well on. However, I was in the hospital in 2013 for something that is completely unrelated to anxiety and nothing has worked as well since.

For 4 years, I have been trying and fighting to get back to where I was. I haven't been as successful as I would have liked.

Maybe this increase will be just what you need. Some people don't even consider Lexapro at a therapeutic dose until you are taking 10mg, so you have a lot of room here!

Great job on moving forward, even though it brings with it some nervousness. I think you will be glad once you are feeling better at your adjusted level. smile

So sorry my dear, but it will get better, Im sure this 10mg will work and also up your coping skills, take a walk, try avoid being alone. Sometimes nothing works not medication nor coping skills, but someone told me sometimes its good to welcome the Enxiety and let it be, and not fight it..as I'm writing this post I'm feeling a bit enxious but it is here and I'm preparing to go see my sick aunt its not going to stop me..keep calm my friend.

It took 10mg for me to feel better. Lexapro at lower levels wasn't helpful and in fact made me really anxious. It's like the 10mg was enough to break the logjam. Still have my anxiety and some struggles, but much more manageable than before.

Thanks for your responses. I've been letting the panic attacks come and run their course without fighting them. I'm hoping that the little increase in the Lexapro is enough to get me where I want to be.

Thanks for your kind and encouraging words as always! I also wanted to mention that my therapist and I talked about possibly doing DBT for a while...but we will touch again on that next week when I see her.

Unfortunately, the increase to 10 mg was no good for me. It made my depression worse so I was bumped back down to 5 mg.

Now, I'm going to be stopping the Lexapro and going to try the Zoloft again, but this time from a different pharmaceutical manufacturer.

I hope you're feeling better...sorry I didn't see this post until now!!!
