I've decided after talking with my GP and my husband that it would probably be best to get some therapy for my anxiety. I have really no idea how to go about
it or what to look for in a p-doc. I've made a call to one of the higher rated psychologists in my area and I'm waiting to hear back.
What should I be looking for in him? What should I expect from my first appointment? I don't even know what sorts of questions to ask or will be asked of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When I went to see a Therapist, she referred me to the p-doc upon my request because I want to change meds, but my 1st appointment with her isn't until monday.

You can interview any doctor before making a commitment...
If you feel like you are comfortable with him/her, then you can take the next step of making an intake apoointment.
Feeling at ease with your P-doc/therapist is pretty key...so take your time and don't feel bad about
looking at several options before making a choice.
Best wishes...and keep us updated!

Thanks guys! I got in touch with a company that sounds pretty awesome with a team of Pdocs, nurses, and counselors. I'm waiting to hear back from insurance to see if they'll cover and then I'll set up an appointment. I'll be sure to let you know how it all goes!

Hi
Here's a post I did a while back on meeting with a psychiatrist for the first time.
