Hi SF!
I am sorry to hear of all that you have gone through with anxiety and your UTI/kidney stone issues. :/ This is an understandable trigger for the concerns that you are feeling currently.
I am sure that some residual pain, one week after surgery (plus simply the issue that necessitated the procedures!) is normal and expected. All your test came out favorably...so I think you have good reason to feel confident that all is well. Referred pain is common...so that may be why you are feeling discomfort on both sides. In addition, tension in the muscles of the lower back are likely contributing to what you are feeling.
As far as your counseling appointment goes, I wish you a great first session! I am sure that talking with someone will be extremely helpful. Working with someone of the same faith can be very comforting...with one caveat. Be sure that your counselor validates the fact that anxiety is a real medical issue...the same as any physical one. While prayer is a natural act for people of faith...seeking to manage the anxiety as one would any other health concern should be priority. In other words...I don't want to see your issues dismissed as something that you just need to pray away...if that makes sense.
(Our pastor once illustrated this beautifully as his mom, a woman of great faith, suffered severe depression her whole life)
Let us know how your appointment goes...we are cheering you on!
