Hi Nervous Nelly,
I have to switch antidepressants about every 1-2 years since they lose their effectiveness. It's pretty common. Likely your doctor will start you on a small dose to begin with and then increase as needed. So, don't be afraid to tell him/her if it is or isn't working as well as you expect it should. Give it some time to work but keep the dialogue flowing so he knows whether to keep you where you are or change dosage or medications. Good luck and keep in touch - from another 'older woman'. ;-)
Warmly,
Chutz
