Azithromycin head jerk tics

Hi SCM and welcome to the A/P!

Some abx do cause an increase in anxiety in some people. I haven't heard of this symptom specifically, but it could be caused by stress on the body/mind from the underlying issue (whatever illness is necessitating the need for antibiotics) and the medication itself.

If you need to be on the abx long-term...I would ask your prescribing doctor for an alternative that perhaps wouldn't cause this s/e...

...if you are on a short course, try some progressive muscle relaxation and other stress relieving coping skills (see our Resources @ the top of the main forum page here!) for relief.

I would consult your doctor for a definitive dx and treatment, if Lyme is confirmed. As well as inquiring about the tic

...and for anxiety/symptom relief, like I mentioned above...the Progressive Muscle Relaxation and stress relieving coping skills such as meditation and breathing exercises.
