It was one week ago today that I had surgery. I had radioactive seeds implanted for cancer of the prostate. I woke from surgery which took maybe three hours with the inability to empty my bladder. I have had surgeries in the past and all have caused me this same problem. This time I was a bit luckier in that I did not require a catheter. It is a horrible feeling to not be able to pee when you have to. It is also very painful.

Each day I feel a bit better. I still have pain in my bladder and prostate pain but was told it would get better with time. Having cancer is not fun and I am absolutely sorry for anyone having to go through anything similar.

There are many treatments for the type of cancer I have and it will be quite a while before I know if my treatment is complete. I may have many more different treatments to go through.

I am quite happy the surgery is over with. I waited almost three months because of covid. The burning and bladder pain are still with me.

This whole year has seemed quite strange to me. We are already into June so we will be half way through the year soon. I have never seen a thing like all this. I want this virus to be gone and people to be able to enjoy their lives again. Summer is here and no one seems to be enjoying themselves. I pray things will change for the better soon.

The dr gave me Uribel which is a mixture of I think four different meds. It works well for bladder pain and burning feeling. It turns your urine blue which is a bit of a shock!!! After this med I was given Toradol which is an anti inflammatory med. I have quite a few other meds I take on a daily basis. I sometimes wonder if all the meds I take do anything at all---that is till I miss a dose and the pain becomes overwhelming.
