A Decision Pretty Much Made

As most of you know, I went to a new pdoc. It cost a lot of $$$ as he doesn't take medicaid. Anyhow, I've decided to go back to the clinic and not go back to him. I feel a little awkward about it, but I plan to talk to my case manager at the clinic and tell her all that has transpired in the past month or two. She is really nice and perhaps she can advise me on which pdoc at the clinic to go to. I'm going to tell her WHY I tried an outside pdoc and WHY I've decided to return to the clinic. I am disappointed that it hasn't worked out as I'd hoped. We could've afforded the new pdoc since mom's getting a SS check starting in November, but I just feel that this pdoc wasn't for me. He was nice, but I need someone different. Do you know that he made me PROMISE to go to the Social Security office and let my mom ask if a person on SSI (me) if a recepient could make any money by doing a little work a few hours a day? I told him that I didn't believe anyone on SSI can generally earn money, but he said they can. This all stemmed from me worrying that he would write in his notes that I help my mom clean offices (not paid) and that the powers that be might not understand when the time for reevaluation for benefits came around again. He said he wouldn't put it in file, so I was okay with it, but he was so certain that it would be okay for me to earn money that he wanted me to hear with my own ears that I could. I've been on SSI for years and I am certain that i can't. I dunno. I just need someone different. He was too eager to change me off meds too fast I felt as well. Well dears, that's the deal and I hope that this time I'm making the right choice. I try to be smart about this stuff!

Janet good luck to you. I think you made the right decision, if you weren't comfortable with the pdoc, then he is not the doc for you. I'm sure things will work out for the  good going back to the clinic.

Hun I know here in Ontario that is allowed BUT they take off dollar for dollar and then they start wondering why you are able to work and need ssdb ........
I believe you made a good decision if he did put in files explain that he misunderstood you and was PUSHING you to earn money by working kk

I'm on SSI and the rules are different. I talked to a therapist/caseworker today and she said I was correct. There is a "back-to-work" program that lets you try working for 9 months. If you are able to do so, you are taken off SSI.
