Hi, I just wanted to say hi. I'm new to this forum and glad to have found it because I've felt so alone for so long. I've had anxiety all my life and now am suffering from horrible, horrible panic attacks that are scaring me to death. I have been married 25 years and have a very supportive and loving husband. I have five young children and this is really affecting me. I went to the doctors yesterday and now am taking medication and I am feeling so much better today. I live in Canada and will be posting and reading posts often. It's nice to know we are not alone. Lyn

Hi Busymum and fellow Canadian.
I just signed up to and am also new to meds and feeling better. I agree that this forum is great for knowing you're not alone in your anxiety experiences.
I am bugged by my own, at times,health/anxiety self absorbtion and how that affects my family (3little kids). I'm getting back on track now and am placing great stock in meds. The best part if any of this is that I to have a husband that supports and understands me.
I hope you have continued success.

Thank you both and Patty it sounds like we have a lot in common. It's so hard to be a mom and suffer from this. I have to hide it from my children so as not to upset them. They are all high needs/special needs kids. If it wasn't for my loving husband I would be lost. I'm hoping that finding support here will take some of the pressure off of him. How old are your kids? mine are girl, 14, boys, 12, 11, 10 and two. Lyn
P.S. can I ask what meds are helping you? I'm taking novo-alpraxol 0.25 mg three times a day. Dr. wants to start me on an anti-depressant in 2 weeks in addition as I also suffer from depression. I'm afraid of that as I've had awful reactions to two he has tried in the past and novo-alpraxol seems to be the only thing that helps me with no side effects, except fatigue.

Hi Busymum. So glad that you found us. This site has made a profound difference in my life. I used to post on the depression site. After I got treatment for the depression I realized that depression only comes to me after 4-5 months of trying to fight off anxiety. I started to explore the anxiety and moved over to this board. I was on my way to healing when I came here but knowing that I wasn't alone and that I had a place to safely say whatever I needed to has been incredible because no matter how mild or severe the anxiety, everyone here understands.

I completely relate to being a mom trying to raise kids and deal with anxiety issues. The last hurdle that I am working on getting over is my incredible anxiety over the idea that I may have screwed up my kids because of the depression while they were young. You know what? They have turned out to be 2 of the most amazing, strong and capable adults that I know. I won't say that there haven't been issues but I know that I am a good mom and they know that they are good people. Come here often. I am always open to emails and there are many good people here to help.

I'm glad you're on meds and feeling better... it can be tough dealing with the disorder and having kids, I'm sure. (I don't have kids, but I can only imagine, as it's tough enough just dealing with me and my dog LOL)

And yes, you're not alone. All of us are here for you if you ever need us. :)

Boy, you are a busy mum.
My kids are girl, soon to be 4 yrs and boys, 6 and 8. My 6yr old is deaf with two hearing aids, he is learning to talk.
Yeah, I pretty much keep it from my kids too but mine are so young and can only understand so much, and only need to know so much.
I've spread it out pretty thick in this forum today about being on 20 mg Paxil (everyone's probably tired of hearing this lol) and that's all I've ever been on for this and am entirely new to this too.
Hope things keep looking up for you Lyn.

I live in Ontario just about an hour from Windsor border or an hour from London ....3 from Toronto
So happy you have found us here at HW.........sorry for the reasons but........

You will not find another support system or group of peeps such as the ones here on this site
I found this site at my lowest point just after finding out I had crohns as well as other illnesses and I knew I had A/P
Suffered most of life with it........I came to this site for crohns and alzheimers and found the A/P forum as well I have never looked back and I have made many life long friends on here since joining
This is like a lil "family " here and it is great to see many more canucks coming aboard
You's will get the "Eh's " lol and the canuck jargon actually most do now lol with me and my yakker

*Lyn* do not beat yourself up hun for having this Illness that is exactly what it is and I too try to hide it from my Caitlyn but she is a teen and very able to see the a/p and other illnesses and what they do to me ........Cait belongs to this site as well for support and when she joined it was to find out what and how she could help me ( she has an adopted sis on here who she talks to all the time as well Normal )......Hubby belongs as well ........I am so happy you have hubby that it understanding and supportive that is A big plus as we know .........Some meds are not for everyone thats for sure I do hope that you are able to find the one that works for you.......please do get to know us and feel comfy here it is good for me and I know others will say the same .....so keep posting this is where you come to Vent ,laugh,cry whatever
Never are you judged only supported and cared about ........I hope to see more of you around the boards .......Take care and be well and remember you are no longer alone

Welcome aboard............ another Canadian.......sorry you have to be here but as I said to the other Lyn it is the best suooprt place ever and the peeps are the most giving, caring and supportive I have ever had the pleasure of knowing
This is a great place to come to to vent laugh cry do and say whatever .....ask what you want
here there is no Judgement at all ....acceptance and understanding is tops and I am so grateful for that
I am also glad you have a hubby that is supportive and caring as well
it has to be hard with 3 lil ones I cannot imagine well I guess I can kinda rememeber how bad things got with Caitlyn and I when she was young I am OCD as well so that is hard still even with her as a teen
I also told Lyn not to be beating herself up over his A/P it is a real illness not something in our head we have" just made up"
A/P is being more recognised by doctors now than about 20 + YRS AGO: as is health anxiety some peeps call it hypochondria I prefer the other name .......Come to get to kno us and us you I promise you will see what I say is so true and I know you will find the support here you so need
