One little step for me...

With my anxiety/panic disorder and social phobia ... I actually went to join Curves yesterday and actually showed up this morning for my appointment to get introduced to the machines.  The only thing is, I had my therapist call for me first to see if they help people with fibromyalgia.  I have this stupid fear of talking on the phone.  I had my Mom come with me today, too, because I'm not comfortable with going to places alone.  BUT ..... I did go and I had  fun and hopefully, next week, I won't need my Mom to come with me!

 

Man, I'm such a big baby!  confused

Hi Puddin,
That's GREAT! I wish I could put those little happy people up to do the happy dance. I don't know how people do that. Maybe someone will come along and fill me in. I'm so glad that you had fun too. It sounds like this was HUGE for you. God bless your sweet Mom too. I pray that you can do it again tomorrow!!!!!

baby steps thats the way to do it and Chuckles knows she has  gone thru it  

Went from not being able to make it to post office to travelling 200 miles on her own

She did it with baby steps

I know you can too and with all the care and support of the peeps on here rooting for you

Hey that's great puddin, that is a big step and I'm glad you enjoyed Curves. I went to Curves for a couple of years and really enjoyed it. I'm also glad your mom is so supportive. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the votes of confidense!  I have to get over this fear of doing things all by myself.  Gee, Chuckle .. I can't imagine driving that far all by myself.  That's amazing.  I've always marvelled at how people can drive great distances all alone, talk easily on the phone, talking to people in general.  I am glad that I got to Curves, even if it was with my Mom .. I've got to get out because I can see myself becoming house bound very easily.  Having to go out alone is becoming harder and harder lately.

Major congrats puddin...One foot infront of the other thats the way to do it. Youre not alone in having issues doing things alone...Lyn called the airport for me to ask them questions for me cause I wouldnt do it and shes in CANADA and I'm in the US. Sometings are harder for some of us than others. slow and steady wins the race...

VERY COOL!!! Those little steps are bigger than you think, I'm proud of you. I understand about being afraid, I am a recovered agoraphopic (see that thread for my story) and when I have anxiety it centers around being alone. I'm all better now though and stringing little steps together is definately a way to start.
