Suffocating

I had my prostate removed 4 months ago and have beeb taking 60 - 90 mg of oxycodone for ever since for pain.  They damage a nerve during the operation.  Two nights ago I went to bed and as soon as I laid down I could not catch my breath.  I had to stand up immediately.  It was as if I was going to suffocate.  I wlked around for a few minutes and it wen t away.  I tried to lay down again and immediately the same thing.  I took a seditive and eventually went to sleep and that feeling woke me up early, again could not catch my breath.  Last night went to lay down, same thing.  I'm wondering if this is some kind of panic attack or maybe it's the Meds.  Why it does it only when I lay down? Anyone experience this?  Iwould love to lay down.  Thanks

I haven't slept in a bed for six months due to my stomach problems, which are supposedly panic attacks. When I do try to lay flat I also feel my lungs getting weird, but nothing as severe as what you're experiencing. I do know that asthma sufferers have trouble laying flat, though it seems strange to me that you'd have problems so suddenly. You talk like all of this is new to you, at least. Is that the case or has it been going on a long time?

In any event, it's worth seeing a doctor about. There's no way we can tell whether you have a lung problem or whatever, unfortunately. Good luck.

I believe that you should be monitored very closely by your doctor but keep posting here because health problems can cause a lot of anxiety and depression and we are here to help.
