Hi Paranoid, sounds like a panic attack to me. Yuck! Try and take some deep breaths count three in three out, try and focus on slowing down your breathing and then try and take your mind off it. Can you watch telly or read a book? I know it's really hard when your head is spinning but try and focus on something other than what your body/mind is doing. I usesd to be scared that I would stop breathing if I went to sleep when I first had panic attcks (14 years ago) and I'm still here so I don't think you need to worry about
