Got A Hearing Aid Today

I have Meniere's Disease. It's a bummer. Have been dealing with it for 20 years plus. To make a long story short, it effects your hearing. Vertigo at times, though that is rare for me. Anyhow, got a new hearing aid today. I only have one working ear. That why I say aid. Not aids. I was skeptical. However, it's GREAT!

Let me tell you. I believe my hearing problems have a correlation with my OCD and general anxiety. I am battling on two fronts. My ear. My OCD. Today I scored victories with both.

I am on a Meniere's Forum at times. Those folks often discuss anxiety and panic disorders. Makes sense.

I have lost hearing almost totally in one ear from IV antibiotics ( too much) and losing it in other
I do know how it feels not to hear and it is the worst feeling ever especially as I love nature sounds and such
Have not deccided if HA is way to go for me
The Doc said i would just hear things louder yet still jumbled ...........no idea what he means I read lips quite often and getting into a bad habit of it

slightly off subject, but I have poor hearing and tinnitus, that is ear noises that come and go

I find headphones useful for the sound of some TV programs but not all TVs have a headphone socket

I have seen Lyn and know what she is talking about...I think some of it may be loss of some "control" over your daily life with the hearing loss/impairment. I can not speak from experiance but I am sure it is frustraiting and confusing at times to not be sure of what you are hearing or not hearing it all... Could be the cause of some of the OCD...I know my OCD tendancies tend to increase when I lose control on an aspect of my life...

Quite possible lil one in some cases I am sure
we both know what the docs have said about the IV antibiotic so I know what the culprit is for me
It is a bad sad and depressing feeling at most times
I would not wish this on anyone
