More fears about this new job!!!

Well you might know it - got a call from HR person trying to finalize my paperwork so I can start new job on Monday and they don't have my drug test back - when she looked it up it said "under review" at which point my heart almost jumped out of my chest (you know me and health anxiety).  I'm not scared about it being drugs, as I'm not on any except BP, but of course I thought maybe they found something else - like blood in my urine or something deadly.  Supposedly it's that the tech didn't check off which test to do so nothing got done but now I may have to run out there again tomorrow and have another, hoping I can make it to new job Monday.  Also, background check didn't come back because they can't verify my college attendance (40 years ago for God's sake) because the school I went to went out of business in 1972!!!! HHHHAAAA.  It's always something.  So of course now I'm sitting here with heart pounding, hands shaking (I'm typing this just to keep from shaking all over), BP rising and new fear that "something" will hold up this new job start.  I realize I'm a horrible worrier but look at how these things always seem to happen to me - is it my bad Karma???????????  Just say a prayer this all falls into place by tomorrow (Friday) so I can have a peaceful weekend and a new job on Monday!  Thanks to all for listening....needed to vent.

You and I are in same boat I went to a school that closed 30 plus plus yrs ago ..hmmmm wonder why they cant get records lol.........

What would I do without all you wonderful people.....every time I read posts like those in support of my crazy neurotic fears it makes me cry.....no other people would be as understanding and kind as the folks here.  As I've said before - once you've had as many disappointments as I've had during my life, it's very difficult not to EXPECT another one - but all your comments make so much sense and it's so generous of you even to take the time to try and calm and old fool like me.  You'll be the first to know when this all comes to fruition and I'm sitting in my new office! 

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it...

THANKS all you wonderful people for your interest and concern.  Yes, I did start my new job (still haven't had that dreaded physical though) and it was a great week to start and get acclimated because my new boss is traveling on business in China all week.  LOTS, LOTS to learn and it'll be alot busier than my last temp assignment in the other department but hopefully this ole brain will be able to process all the information and do a good job.....I'm amazed at how much scarier it is to start new things the older you get....haven't slept well all week as I'm trying to "ingest" all the things I'm learning and it's not as easy as it was 30 years ago.   And regarding that physical - I heard from another employee that it's just a health "screening" so they don't do much at all, just go over your medical history with you....man, that would take alot off my mind.  Probably still do take your BP and that's what scares me but I guess at this point they couldn't do much about it since I'm already on the payroll !!!!  I probably won't be able to write as often anymore as there won't be much "free" time, but I'll do what I can because I swear this site and all your amazing support are what keeps me on the straight and narrow mentally.  Let's just all say a prayer forl those souls who lost their lives at Virginina Tech the other day and realize that there are some who have it worse than we think we do sometimes.  Andrea

I was wondering what happened to you and am glad you posted. I think it's great you've started, and no longer have as much worry about the physical. I'm 99.999 percent sure they won't fire you for having high blood pressure!

There's no doubt in my mind you'll be very good at this job. It's always hard to get into something new, young or old, but you've done it a few time's, I'm sure, and you'll be a-okay.
