Is Xanax an MAOI?

The reason I ask is because my DR prescribed me with Lexapro, and inside the pamplet I have, it says that this drug shouldn't be used within 15 days of using an MAOI.  I have been using Xanax daily for like a week now.  Not sure if it's an MAOI.

I will call him tomorrow to verify, but if anyone knows and can tell me now, that would  be great too!  I appriciate your help guys!!!

I'm not sure what MAOI's are, but they must be pretty hardcore because you can't even take advil if you're on them. I think every drug I've ever seen says no to MAOI's.

You can call a pharmacist to confirm, too. That would be quicker and easier than waiting until tomorrow.

An Maoi like parnate and nardil are anti-depressants.
They are ofter referred as the anti-depressant of last resort because of their many interactions with foods and other medications. Interactions include: aged cheese, processed lunch meat, sausages, red wine and beer to name but a few.
Medication interactions with MAOI's are too numerous to list. They include: any other antidepressant, cough medications, antihistimines, most surgical anesthia,
trazadone...and countless other meds.

As mentioned, xanax is not an interaction.
