FIrst off, lemmie start by saying I haven't had a Xanax in like 5 days!  That is good stuff!  And, today, my parents want me, my bf, (his name is John...I am telling you this so I can stop saying my bf and start saying John.  You say my bf to people you don't know...LOL  smurf ) and my son, Jay Jay, to come over for a cook out.  I said YES.  And, I am NOT going to take a Xanax before I go.  They live across the street from me, but it isn't my home, and it's the idea of the cook out, and then they wanna play games, blah blah blah...to me, this is a big step.  I am confident I will get through it fine.  I was there for almost an hour already today...Jay Jay wanted to go early, so I took him over there, all by myself, and I sat and talked with my parents for about an hour.  It felt nice. 

I hope my day goes well, and I will update you when we get back....I also hope everyone is having a great weekend, and that everyone feels good.

sorry but unless you have mastered CBT coping skills, I think you are heading for a severe panic attack, at least take some xanax tablets with you

positive thinking on its own is nio cure for panic disorders

Tammy I think that is wonderful... being positive is the BEST way to move forward and it sounds to me like you are really proud (as you should be)!!!!! Keep KNOWING that you will be just fine and watch how infrequently you will need the xanax. Good for you!!!!!!!

Harry, they live across the street. If she has a terrible panic attack she can simply go across the street to get one.

It think it's a good step.

I love your attitude and guess what I never went through CBT but I did go to therapy and I am able to go out of the house and have made a great come back. I just accept that I have some anxiety and depression is a part of my life but I will not stop.

i agree with kitt. the fact that you went is a big deal. you said yes and your heading in the right direction. your setting your own pace and moving to it. and thats how you have to do it. no matter what others think. you'll be great and do great. hope that you have fun.

haha...I might fall into the "something to prove/seem like an expert/ego" category, but I agree most of what you said. I wouldn't go so far as to say half the people have no idea what they're talking about, but I agree that a lot of them are frightened because that's the nature of the beast.

Wow guys...I have lots to say about these comments!!!
I will start with you Harry...I didn't take a Xanax before I went, or take one with me, and well, I didn't need it. I was there for 5 hours, and I did TOTALLY GREAT! If I would have carried a Xanax with me, I would have taken it, and well, I didn't need it. I am happy I did it my way!!!
Liz, I do sound proud, and I am proud. I am making such progress, and it feels great!!! So you are right, I do sound proud!!!
Debaser, yes, you are right, my parents live across the street, and I could have came back home to get one if I seriously needed it. And, to be honest, my parents also have Xanax, but I didn't allow myself to think about the fact that they have em, that way I wouldn't use em. I want off em so badly.
Kitt...I went and had a great time! I didnt' have to come home early, so I am feeling like I am on top of the world now!
Tina, i agree with you, it is important I work at my own pace, and I am doing great at the pace I set.
Thank you everyone for trying to support me as I took such a big step. I am home now, 5 hours later, and feeling great about my accomplishment! I am not even nervous now, like that I am back home. I am getting ready to watch a movie and just relax...and it feels GREAT!
mystruggle...you and I will chat about this next time we talk...there is too much for me to say now! LOL.

It is so weird how great it felt to be with my parents, and outside, and before we went there, John and I stopped at the store and the library...and I just felt so "normal" and good. And, if I happen to wake up tomorrow feeling kinda crappy, I am not going to get upset about it...I will just move on with my day and do whatever it takes to feel better.
I am on cloud nine right now...and I am not getting off anytime soon.
