sorry to intrude....question about xanax

i have panic attacks related to another medical problem. whenever my medical problems flares and i get scared (i have been in the hospital several times, it is quite serious), i take a xanax. i am trying to figure out a more natural (herbal or OTC) pill to take when i get these attacks, as xanax is both addictive and usually just puts me to sleep. if you have any suggestions, i would love to hear them. thanks

To my knowledge there is no herbal type of thing that's anywhere near strong enough to equate to Xanax, which is a very potent drug. If you're concerned about addiction, you might consider a longer-acting benzodiazepine such as Klonopin or Valium. They are habit forming, but because tolerance is rare they hardly ever lead to addiction.

I'm with Debaser on this. Some have used Kava Kava, but it can't do what benzos do and there is some controversy about it as well. Just try to take care of yourself and don't worry about the possibility of addiction as you apparently only take it when your anxiety flares up with your medical illness worries you.

Herbal meds will not cut it nor come close to xanax as posted ........

I agree with the others, use your med if you need it and I am sure you would not find an herbal that would be equal to the benzo for helping with anxiety.

hi. does anyone know how long side effects of zoloft will last once the medication has been started?

Hello and Welcome,

Everyone is different and some people do not notice any side effects, as others have side effects for weeks.  I would say approximately 2 weeks might be a ball park estimate.  I am sure others will have better info for you.
