Hi
I've had severe insomnia for nearly 6 years now. Doctors have been telling me for years that its due to anxiety and that there's nothing wrong with me medically. I just found out after years of suffering through horrible, unrelenting insomnia that I have adrenal gland exhaustion, celiac disease, and malabsorption problems. I also have a history of demylenating brain lesions after living in a contaminated community. I teach at a major university and have had to cancel a number of classes because of how severe the insomnia has gotten. Most nights I hardly sleep; that is, if I fall asleep at all. I'm barely holding onto my job now. I've tried everything to help me, including sleeping pills (ambien, lunesta, rozerem), but nothing seems to help me. Someone suggested that I try melatonin and l-tryptophan together since, in isolation, neither one really worked for me. Does anyone know if this combination is safe? and if it works? I seem to have a weird malabsorption or delayed absorption problem where the effect of the drug is markedly delayed. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd sure appreciate hearing them. I'm pretty desperate. I can't keep dragging myself into to teach large college classes in such a sleep-deprived state.
Any suggestions?
