Mel, I had the abdominal and pelvic scan done two weeks ago. Hospital gave me two 16 oz bottles of contrast called Red-cat. Had to drink one at bedtime and the other the next morning 45 minutes...
Thanks to all for the replies. I'll post more about my journey as it develops....
Mirabeau, thanks for sharing. Maybe I'm in denial or just a hopeless optimistic but I think I'll survive this somehow. Glad you and you bother in law are doing well. With all the DRE and the c-scan...
Bogerman, my symptoms pretty much started and slowly got worse but some days were better than others....
Bogerman, this has been going on since the first of the year. Started out as occasional constipation. Then OK for a few days. Over time the BM got more frequent and smaller. Didn't have any diarrhea...
Haven't posted in awhile but read the forum every day. Been having bowel problems for a couple of months. Talked to my radiation oncologist at the end of Sept and he didn't think it was radiation...
Wishing the best for you tomorrow....
David and Jim, thanks for the additional support. Having the result come back the same surprised me and I went into a mini panic but as you guys all said, it didn't go up so no need to worry yet....
Thanks for the replies. Was expecting something under 1 with the way it had been halving with each test so far....
Just got the results of my 15 month post BT PSA test. 1.8, the same as it was on my 9 month test. Should I be worried that it didn't go down? Meeting with rad oncologist next week but want to be...
Congrats. Nice big drop....
Tom, have you tried prolonging the need to urinate? Going 30-35 times a day you can't have much urine in the bladder which would explain the weak stream. I also had the urge about every 30 minutes...
Hope all goes smooth. Doc gave me a valium and I never felt a thing....
I'm 10 months post BT. I had to keep the catheter in for a week and then about four months of frequent urination problems even though on Flomax. Then things got better quickly. Could see improvement...
Wishing the best for you David. You deserve a break from feeling bad if anyone does....
I was 63 at dx and stats were the same as yours. I'm 10 months post treatment and all is back to normal. There was a few months of urinary problems but so far it seems to be working which is all that...
David, so sorry to hear of the PSA rise. I don't know enough about this damned disease to offer anything other than to say I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers....
Thanks for the post. I hope all goes well for both you two new BT guys. Please keep us updated on your progress. Sounds like both of you are doing well....
Brian, sounds like you're on track. My results are pretty much like yours except I didn't get a six month check. Just 3 and 9 months and the rad doc said about what yours did. "Going down and see you...
David, I think "it sucks" is too mild to describe all you've gone through. I hope you can thank the unnamed center with an endorsed check from the bastards made out to you for many millions....
Congratulations. Happy to hear the great news. :-)...
Tom, just relax and know things will get better. It may take more than 3 more weeks to feel "normal" since everybody reacts differently. I will say though that when my frequent urination symptoms did...
I had similar problem. I wouldn't worry about the weak stream since going every 30 minutes you won't have much in you. I had the exact same nightime problems. Had to go twice to feel like I was...
Tom, what kind of side effects are you having? At the six week point I was having very frequent urination problems even with Flomax. I was still having a problem sitting on hard seats. My radiologist...
Thanks guys. Just hearing the words "great number" means more than you'll ever know. :-)...
9 month post BT PSA is 1.8...
Thank you for the info mjluke. Not sure what I'll get but but at least I won't freak out if it's not super low....
Bachez, our stats are pretty similar and BT was my choice. I had some minor side effects but nothing that would have made me change my choice of treatment. I'm only 9 months out from treatment so I...
Thanks Jim. You and John have provided me with enough information so I won't panic if the number isn't super low. I'll have the results tomorrow but don't meet with the radiation doc until next week....
Thanks John....
I had my 9 month PSA test this morning. The test after 3 months had cut the PSA in half and the radiologist seemed pleased with that. What number should I hope for when I get the results tomorrow?...
Good luck Flytyer. I just got back from having blood drawn for my 9 month PSA test following BT. Haven't worried too much about the PC lately but just having the blood drawn got me on edge again....
David, I'm sorry to hear of this latest setback. You are always in my thoughts and prayers....
Wishing the best for you David. If the time comes that you have to make a choice on HT you're strong enough to face it and make the right choice for you....
Congrats. I'm due for my second post BT test next month. I hope my numbers mirror yours as the tests go by....
My biopsy was performed by his partner even though my urologist told me he would be doing it. I thought it strange that they put me out before the doctor came in and he didn't come by when I woke up....
Josh, your dad doesn't know me but I have been thinking of him all day and hoping all went well. So relieved that all went well and hoping he has a quick recovery....
Thanks guys for the replies. That's one thing I didn't ask about before the implants....
Had my first (3 month) post BT PSA this week. 4.7 compared to 9.1 at diagnosis. Does this sound OK? I meet with the rad oncologist next week but would like opinions before then....
Got my first PSA post BT coming up in two weeks....
Bob, that sounds great. Congrats. I've got my three month test coming up in 3 weeks. Hope I come in as low....
David, you will be in my prayers daily. I'm sure even those who may be offended will be wishing only the best for you....
Toughasnails, Your post is the first one I've read that sounds similar to my experience. Glad to hear it will keep getting better....
I had BT on June 22. Urologist who assisted insisted on a catheter for two days. Had a blockage and had to have a new one for five more days. Taking Flomax twice per day and no problems in the day...
Waitman, I had seeds implanted 7 weeks ago. The procedure was easy and I spent about 5 hours in the hospital from check in to check out. My side effects were a little more than I expected. Needed a...
Good luck David. Why do those damn things always block at night or on weekends? You're in my thoughts and prayers daily....
Bob, I'm only three weeks out but having similar problem. Will be interested in what your doc says....
Happy birthday David. I join all the others in wishing complete healing for you. You deserve nothing less for all the help you've given others....
Will be thinking of you all afternoon and wishing all the best to you for a successful surgery....
Troy, I had seeds implanted last Tuesday. As far as the procedure no big deal since I was totally out of it. The urologist who assisted likes to send the patient home with a catheter for 36 hours....
