Hi Sj...thats what happened to me...no more pred for me, I'm an untrustworthy patient   But sometimes we just get desperate because we hurt, so I hope you get it all figured out.

It has been several days since I had my last shot of Enbrel (the second dose) and I'm convinced it only lasts two days and then I'm back to square one...with pain in my hands, knees and now even my toes of all places and last night the bottoms of my feet.  How can I have pain in MORE places now that I'm on the Enbrel? It should be going away not increasing... It's almost like a rebound? Sorry to be so whiny it's just frustrating and not what I expected.

i'm in a severe upset w/ the RA.  f'd up insurance screwed up my remicade. no meds for overamonth...w/o the remicade i got very bad very fast.

was in hospital/heavy intervention w/ my pain doc (they upped 8times my doses of all my pain meds in attempts to control the pain.)

too many steroids...swollen as can be.

and i've broken out in those nastyarse pyoderma gangrenosum things...so even my goodlooks have gone down the crapper.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Friday night!  oh sj, wish we could take half of your problem and mix it in with half of mine, then we'd both be ok lol.  I haven't gained that horribly much,a little more than 10 pounds,  and I'm tall, so no one really notices except me, but that's enough...I still hate it.  Got to get serious about this after the holiday.

Well, re-joined the enbrel club today.  Went to the rheumy, and she wasn't real happy with the way my joints looked, so took a shot tonight.  Hey mom, must be something with those auto-injectors, the first one I tried to use didn't work either.  Called the hotline though, and they are replacing it.  The second one worked fine, no burning,(yeah) but I was bracing for it. For the time being, staying with the plaq, but going to see if I can go without the Celebrex. Not sure if it's really helping or not.  Only way to know is to quit for a bit.  Another reality check, perhaps?

Getting ready for big Easter brunch here on Sunday....normally I'm already in the kitchen, but guess I have to scale back a bit this year.

G,morning All.  I have to work this morning.  Ugh!  But only until noon.  Then pick up my Easter ham and start cooking the rest of the goodies.  All my kids are coming tomorrow.  I'm so thrilled because my SIL doing chemo is well enough this weekend to be with us.  Yippee! 

Yes, sj, the tape is still playing.  I think I could catch a semi coming down the highway with his little ole rope!  Strange thing is, he hasn't even saddled up a horse for months.  He's had back pain and now some kind of groin? problem.  I'm worried and will nag him until he sees his doc.  He had a killer hernia surgery a little over a year ago and the hernia had descended into the scrotum so there was a lot of reconstruction and a horrendous recovery. 

The "catch" in a roping is a precious commodity here in Ok.  Never abused or one will escorted out of an arena and banned forever.  The abused one is usually the cowboy or cowgirl, being yanked or thrown from their horse or losing a digit from an incorrectly wound rope. Not a sport for me, I'll tell ya.

Stiff, painful mornings here.  Meds are slow to work these days.  Time to visit rheumy, I guess.

Happy Easter.  Saw the Pain specialist on Thursday for the results of the MRI's on my c-spine and neck.  He really had nothing more than bad news.  A bulging disc at the C5-C6 with encroachment on the anterior spinal theca and some flattening  of the spinal cord and a bunch of other stuff I really don't understand.  If anyone can read MRI's let me know and I'll post more about it.  I think it sounds worse than it is probably.  He basically said that I don't need surgery right now and that most of the problems are related to the RA.  I'm not supposed to walk more than 15 minutes at a time, cannot lift more than 5KG's and no activities that can jostle the back ie; running, jumping rope, basketball.  Didn't do those things anyway. 

He recommends some cortisone therapy which would be injections every 2 weeks for 3 injections that injections every two months.  Only a 50/50 chance of getting any relief though.  I wasn't very prepared though so when I see my Rheumy this Thursday I'll have lots of ???? for him.  if anyone has any advise or has similar issues, I'm all ears. 

Other than that things are well, busy as ever.  We had lots of sunshine this week but it is still sooooooooooo cold.

my feet have calmed down...they always do when i stay off them.  had a peaceful easter and listened to some lovely music.  a friend came over for lunch and to play scrabble today.

am finding it hard to adjust to this lyrica medicine and am hoping that it better sooner rather than later.  the lyrica makes me so tired that i just crash and i find it hard to keep my eyes open at times.

well enough moaning for now

bear, we've been having some snow too but just flakes...it's often "flakey" around new york, right yally?

raven, normally cortisone is NOT good for your bones in the long run but sometimes you have to take a shot because of the pain.  had two shots in my neck when i had a herniated disk there.

It sounds like you had a wonderful Easter! My daughter still loves the Easter egg hunts at age 11   and so do my boys...but only for the candy   Where do you find your energy???? Between my husband and I we went grocery shopping, fixed a small dinner and had an egg hunt and I was exhausted.  I always seem to be too tired..but I have heard that the Enbrel can have a pretty fast turnaround for some and that is what it sounds like with you

I think I'm on shot #4 and it seems like the Enbrel wears off after a couple of days..not sure why that is...I guess I will keep taking it until I run out and then see where I am on it.

The hip pain that I had is gone...but that seems to have been replaced by knee pain   Right now I'm trying to decide which I prefer?

Sometimes I have pain in the hands but for the most part I guess I could say I have improved. Although the arthritis is much worse than it was a year ago. If I could get the energy back that I had a couple of years ago it would be fabulous!  I can still remember what it was like before I developed this joint pain and fatigue and if I could get back to normal, I would be a happy camper.   I thought the Enbrel would do just that!  I'm still hopeful!  I try to push myself like that but always end up in a miserable flare in a few days. I used to worry about having everything in place (hate clutter) but now with the joint pain coupled with endless driving, my standards are not what they used to be.  Let's just say I have raised my little white flag! Thank goodness my husband is able to do so much and he is a lot like you and has difficulty sitting still..otherwise nothing would get done at our house!
