Hey all.. another quick check in.. my week is still busy, but coming to a close, I drive to Kentucky tomorrow to take my step-daughter home.. so today is catch up on laundry day and packing.. not to mention we have to fit in the beach and a movie... holy crap... I must say, I got quite the chuckle out of reading the previous moanin' thread.. you guys are all so awesome! talk to you soon!

Sj...How is the MTX going? Have you taken your first dose of it yet?

The board seems to be slow the past few days..where is everyone? Enjoying spring weather maybe? It's actually nice here for a change..

Took my 4th or 5th dose of Enbrel (can't seem to remeber how many now) and  maybe it is helping or maybe it is the nice weather, either way not so much joint pain the past couple of days, and I've been thinking about hopping on the treadmil that my husband set up in the garage.

Anyway, I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend :-)

I took the mtx last night-I thought it was supposed to make me sleep!..I was exhausted and slightly dizzy but was awake seven times during the night. Not sleeping makes my joints swell-so today I am whining. I still have a headache. But, with all of that I guess it could have been worse.

We are having wonderful weather here as well 78 during the day and then thunderstorms to cool things off at night.

Sj, sorry to hear you didn't sleep, I hope that isn't a side effect for you..I remember when I first took my dose of it, I couldn't stay awake and felt like I had the flu, just hurt all over.  It was pretty miserable..I know for me lack of sleep makes the joints hurt..maybe taking a nap will help if you can fit one in? Remember to drink lots of water!!! Hang in there, I know its hards..I still take it and it doesn't really seem to mix well with the Enbrel..

Thunderstorms? I miss those! (I'm from Kansas) and it never seems to rain here eyes

Meant to check in with you, it's been a wild, crazy, very very busy day...wasn't hardly home at all.  Did peak in at the posts a couple of times, just no time to write anything.  Glad to see it wasn't too horrible for you, hopefully, the sleep thing won't continue.  I seem to remember some people, posting about vivid dreams, and interupted sleep before, now that you mention it.  Maybe imarzz?  If she reads this, she may chime in.

Anyway, have a good night all...will try and check back tomorrow.

Hi everyone, thank you for your concern. I feel great now. The headache is gone and I slept really well last night so the much dreaded first dose of Methotextrate is history and I am still alive and well.

aftermoanin to ya all! hope all are coping well. snowed here this morning! ugh! but is in the high forties i think now??? doing housework and making my anniversary dinner lol 21 years this pst friday and i didnt feel like going out after a long days work. yesterday just didnt happen so i thought i would make prime rib today. it is almost done and smellin mighty fine!

sj sorry you were up all night i too tend to get tired like m23. i didnt take mine last night for thta reason wanted to stay up and watch a movie and then i later forgot to so looks like i will take it tonight instead.

part of me thinks i should just try the enbrel without the mtx as i think that is what works the best anyway???? idk?

well the daughter got the permit and went driving yesterday.... so much for waiting????? i went out to church sat morning for a meeting and her and dad went and got the permit. look out squirrels road kill on the way! lol

well not much new to post so i best be on my way. take care everyone and know i think of you all and hope all is well........ i am missing a bunch of you and hope all is well.... too many missing to mention!

Yally..Happy Aniversary to you and your hubby! I hear you about being tired! By the end of the week, that is it, I'm done! My birthday was yesterday and my daughter and I went to a movie and dinner and stayed up until Midnight, and I have to say at 37 I just can't stay up past 9pm anymore, not without feeling it the next day....My husband and son went to a rock concert and didn't seem to have a problem with their energy levels today..go figure! tongue

As far as the meds go, I'm not sure but they say the MTX is supposed to inhance the Enbrel (or maybe the other way around) I personally think it makes it worse and I feel yuckier after taking the MTX the next day, it almost seems to intensify my joint pain at least for a day or two.  I'm thinking of just doing the Enbrel alone too.  But then maybe its the plaquenil too, who knows since I take so many pills!

I know my son will be wanting his permit in August since he will be 16, we won't be able to put him off any longer...It's exciting but so scary to think about..you made me laugh about the poor squirels tongue

Sj,  I'm glad you're feeling much better, it looks like you won't have all of the MTX issues I had!

happy anniversary, yally... eyes eyes

wanted to tell everybody how well i am doing with the tens unit. it is a bit awkward to use but it is worth it. i am using it on my knee right now as i have a popped kneecap. you can select the body part where you want to use it and put the pads there and then hook it up. well i am wired ... a totally electric woman.

hope i am not being too optimistic (give me hope, man, any hope) but i do think this does work. happy me!

Momto3 I know exactly how you feel about the loss of energy I am 37 as well and I havent had any energy since I first developed RA at 24.

Jody, you have been so sweet to put up with my irrational fears. Thank you it has really helped.

Somewhere in all of this ranting I became a veteran member I did not notice just when but I like to think it was with my theme party idea.

Hi All,

You're right Jody, I did have vivid dreams and restless sleep from the MTX. Now I usually follow it up with ambien, but even if I don't I sleep much better now. Still feel fatigued and headachy the following day, but not too bad.

Remicade seems to be working but I also get a headache and increased joint pain for a couple days after the infusion. Long term less swelling and stiffness but still need tramadol for pain at times. Could partly be the weather - where is Spring?

Jody,

Since you take Celebrex, I'm wondering if it keeps you awake? or makes you feel as if you had too much caffiene? I have noticed that when I take one, it feels like I have had too much coffee? Just thought I would ask you or anyone else that takes it? Just a strange restless feeling a bit difficult to describe.

Funny Mary described her Remicade reaction and it sounds a lot like the Enbrel!  Maybe that is just the way these medications are?

Hi all! I'm alive and well and wanted to say hello.

I"m about 2 threads behind, so forgive me if I'm not up-to-date on everyone.

I took a nasty spill the day after Easter and sprained my right ankle badly and banged up my left knee. Both are stilll bothersome! We have been having weird nasty weather....cold/hot/cold/hot...not helping my situation. I also have a nasty cold. <sigh>

My contract ended. however, they asked me to come back. I have this week off while they do the paperwork and I return  next Monday. No more OT for me thought. I hope it's just a short-term thing. I'm ready for a long-term break (I think! let's see how this weeks goes!)

Hope youare well. Someone mentioned vivid dreams. When I was on Remicade I pretty much has hallucinations. It was freaky.

momma hen here checking in!  Yeah, you know I do worry about everybody, you're all like my family...I really mean it!  Actually, I was thinking of changing my name to Lounge Lizzard or something in honor of my geckos.....Ducky..Sleepless in Carolina..sounds like a movie lol. Seriously, how was the trip?  You had trouble sleeping last week too, didn't you..think it might be the mtx?  If so, sure hope it passes!  Oh, those pics were adorable!!!!!! Thanks so much for sharing.   Mom, can't say that was a side effect of the Celebrex that I ever noticed...but...between my endless coffee cup and my natural hyperness...maybe I wouldn't know the difference? Did you check with the pharmacist to see if it could be from the meds? Belated Happy Birthday to you!!!!!  What a nice way to spend it, at the movies with your daughter....love my boys dearly..but always wished I had a daughter to share the "girlie' stuff with. Maybe that's why I ended up in daycare with all these little girls to snuggle.  Joan...so glad the tens unit is helping, so glad you are finally getting some relief from your pain...Yally...hey girl...I'm still jealous...grrrrr...just kidding you know..LUMI .  Sj, ok, one week under  your belt...next one won't be as bad..now you know you can do it...so very happy that's behind you, now you can put your mind to rest a bit.  hey..you're a vet now...I gotta catch up...congrats!

I blink and it's Monday morning again. ugh.  Trying to get up at 5am(yikes!) to exercise and walk with a neighbor....we'll have to see how long this lasts....

Thank you Yally, you are such a sweetie :-) I'm happy your prime rib turned out so well, and I hope you and your hubby had a wonderful dinner..Here it is almost 80, but tomorrow SNOW eyes enjoy your almost 60 degrees tongue

Jody, I don't know what it is about the celebrex, just makes the chest/heart feel funky..I can't imagine taking two per day..It was a great evening with my little girl, earlier in the morning we had a family birthday breakfast, and on Friday night went out for dinner..hubby felt bad that he had planned a concert on my actual birthday.

Camama..it is so good to hear from you, sounds like an awful fall!!! a few years ago I fell down the stairs and ended up missing the last four, and tore all the ligaments in my foot, it took a good year for it to heal..Are you doing physical therapy? Congrats on the renewal of your contract!

Not much news to report other than my knees hurt when I walk, tomorrow is a visit to the doctor and not sure what he will say about the knees especially now that I am also on the Enbrel, afterall it should at least help with knee pain!

Hey mom,

Just a quick post here , the kids are getting up...the doc did tell me that Celebrex can effect the heart rate....we were careful about using it because I have an issue with that already.  Did it always bother you like that, or is that new?  Probably something you should discuss with the doc.  Gosh wish we had your 80"s!!!  You and Yally are both warmer than we are today...do you believe that??  We were supposed to be lucky to hit 65 today, have a very chilly breeze.  Only 40 degrees in the morning brrrrrr. ( I know, I know, you all feel real sorry for me, right? lol)

Let us know how the appt goes tomorrow, ok?  I go next Monday.

Hi Jody,

As for the Celebrex, yes that is usually what happens and I think it is one of the side effects, that is why I don't take two! I would never sleep! and I already have insomnia, and I think that is from the MTX, and I think someone is having insomnia from the MTX? yes that is what led me to the Lunesta (I think) initially I couldn't stay awake but that went away pretty fast!

I will keep you updated! I'm wondering now about the tens unit? but I looked it up and it is like an electric shock? that sounds a bit scary...don't know if I could do that?
