Anyone living in Florida with arthritis?  We are planning a move to Florida and I wonder how the high humidity is going to affect my joint pain.  I have mild to moderate arthritis in my knees, shoulders, lower back and hands.   Thanks! confused

Hi there,

Welome to HW and an early welcome to Florida!!  I live in the Tampa area, and was diagnosed a little over a year ago.  Pretty much the same areas you suffer with, plus my feet and ankles. Yes, when the storms roll in and the pressure systems change, it can make for some achy days, but it seems everyone on the forum suffers from that no matter where they live.  We took a trip last fall to Wisconsin, and I can tell you that the cold there bothered me way more than anything I've ever experienced in Florida.

When are you moving here, and to what part of the state?

Good Morning!  and thanks for the reply and welcome.  I am currently in Pennsylvania and I agree that the cold truly does cause a great deal of pain.  We are planning to move to the Citrus County area around the middle of August.  Perfect planning to get a good taste of the heat! cool    How long have you been in Florida?

Wow you really are going to have a change in climate! We love Cirtus County..it'a a little quieter there, we have a few favorite getaway spots there.  Yes, August will be very, very hot..July and August are typically the hottest months here, doesn't start cooling down until late September or October.  We moved here in August as well, but that was over 20 years ago, when our kids were all small. I hope you like it!

Lee County, Florida here!

If cold weather causes you problems you're coming to the right state!

Oh, we do get some cold days but it never lasts.

I'm going to be useless regarding arthritis symptoms and the state of Florida though because I've lived here all my life. I think Arthritis is an equal opportunity disease.

Best of luck and buy a HUGE air conditioning unit for your house.
