momto3-the 5 AM thing would have killed me the first day-I am amazed that you are still doing it-I wish I had that kind of discipline.
Yally, I hope you get those infections cleared up soon and can get back on your meds.
Boo, I was a nervous about the mtx as you are but on week 9 or 10 now and am so glad I tried it-as soon as I got on the right dose of folic acid I had no more side effects at all.

oh yes TGIF!!!!!

This week was a year long, I swear!  Right there with you on the morning thing, mom.  I get up on average by 5:30, two mornings I go to the gym to work out with weights, the other three I walk about 2 1/2 miles with a friend of mine.  We sure don't break any land-speed records, but at least we're getting out there.  Yuck..I do not like it at all...however I like my thighs and waistline even less.  So...keep plugging along.  My biggest problem is getting to bed at a decent time at night I stay up way too late, then by Thursday, I am wiped out.   

Been trying to do some baking marathons ( now that really helps these thighs of mine lol)...stocking up the freezer with cookies for next week's party. Oatmeal and chocolate chip so far, still have a few more kinds to bake. Ordered a cake, and going to have different kinds of appetizers.  Nothing too fancy...not like you do, Yally...but hopefully it will be nice. Praying we have decent weather, too!!!  Really need to be able to have people OUTSIDE.  hey, Yally, didn't it pour down rain at your daughter's party last year?  Gosh, I hope not here!

Anybody have special plans for Father's Day?  Bear...if you see this..I hope you have an extra-special day!!  My family is getting together at one of my sister's, but hubby just wants a quiet day here with the kids.  Can't really blame him, things have been so hectic, would be nice to have a chance to relax and spend some time with the kids. Plus she's serving chicken and he wants a BIG steak lol!

Looks like I'd better get off the computer...terrible thunderstorm rolling in..hugs to you all... Oh Ducky...how'd the doc appt go??  I sent you an e-mail, but don't know if I sent it to the right address..hope you got it!

Awesome for you both on getting up and out there!!! There's no way I could get up at 5:30 right now!!! BUT, I hope to be well enough to start exercising come July. I need to loose 1/2 my weight! WHAAA.  Waaaayyyyy back in my younger years...before children...before all these feet/arthritis/emotional issues.....when in reality all I had was 10 or so pounds of tonning to do....I had a 6 a.m. appointment with a trainer....on the other days I went to 6 a.m. 1-hour aerobics. Boy, those were the days! And I thought I was SOOOOO unbelievably fat! Geesh!

TGIF I just love Fridays! And (I'm guessing) because schools got out this week, traffic was minimal! Yahooo! Both a.m. and p.m. today! I was stocked and we even have the U.S. open going on here. We go on vacation next wed for a week and a half. I'm so excited.

Just going to the in-laws on Father's day with the family.

Have a great evening everyone. I gotta do some cleaning, a friend and her family are in town and coming over for dinner tomorrow night. I think I'm gonna order a pizza and make salad. tongue It's nice and E-A-S-Y!

Okay..well as for the 5am thing, it is a class since my husband teaches part time at one of the colleges, he signed us all up for this class and you really can't drop it, so I"m pretty much signed on for the summer.  I have to tell you ladies, there was one point last week where I missed a day because I hurt so bad, I could hardly get out of bed with the missed Enbrel.  But I'm hanging in there, and hopefully by the end I won't look so puney and maybe I will get some muscles tongue   I don't need to lose weight but sheesh things are sagging eyes

Jody..Are your oatmeal cookes with raisens? Because if they are, you could make a few extra :-)   I love those!!

Ducky..thinking about you and hope you post soon with some good news.

Camama..Its tough to get out there and work out especially with RA, sometimes it really just gets in the way and can get really frustrating! I have been frustrated more than once since starting and believe it or not I actually hurt myself TRYING out a piece of equipment.  Just take it really slow, that is what I have been doing.

I hope Bear is alright, he hasn't posted in so long..

I'm going to pick up my critter tomorrow afternoon (my daughter) I think at some point she is going to get embarrassed and want me to stop calling her that.  I'm excited to see her, so time to get to bed since it is a 10 hour drive round trip.

mom I am up at that hour but usually dragging myslef just to do a few things around the house, you go girl!

camama- how are you feeling these days? man i still have this chest thingy! coughing like a fool esp if the air is on or a fan blowing my way it puts me way out!

couldnt stay awake last night for some reason think i went to bed by 10? not like me at all esp on a weekend. hubby was packing his suitcase in the room and i could nt keep my eyes open to even help him!

boo i am so upset i am not going with hubby as we would have had a blast of a time together! heck if you want to look him up just go to brincktwon and ask for "yally's hubby" lol i am certain someone at some hotel will answer that call? lol rememeber when i asked for bear! lol hey i got him! well hopefully the weather will be nice out your way boo as i hope no twisters come that way! oh well maybe next time if he ever goes that way i will come!

dcky i made frogmore stew! thought of you! thanks again for the recipe! it was great have some left overs ..... also made a prime rib roast on the grill!!!! came out wonderful! never did anything like that before and couldnt find a recipe on-line so i wong it and it was good! so jody tell hubby happy fathers day and enjoy his thick steak!!!!!!!! yum yum.......
bear your a veggie so enjoy your berries and nuts! but me thinks your missing something not havin a steak!

sj how you doing? yep i am still not well but the feet have healed so that is a plus! i think the lungs are so inflammed thatiswhy i am still coughing. i do have RA nodules on my lungs and i bet they are mis behaving! but then so am i! lol

joan i dont know what i am gonna do if you never post again???????? i so miss your posts! but then i miss many! elcamino you ever out there? so many good ones gone from my moanin...... but many great ones still here! lol

harley diva, raven, el, erin bear duck- the trinity! lol oh well enough about the past..... so for me i am taking hubby to airport in an hour then coming home to only go back for day 2 of the dance recital! yep my eldest even though away all year managed to get in one dance at her recital so after 16 years of paying for dance i am not gonna miss one now!

Moanin Everone,

 

Just catching up on the posts.  I seem to always be behind lately.  Had some bloodwork done and am starting B12 injections.  Hopefully this will help with some of the tiredness. 

 

The weather has been hot lately, which is great for the joints.  We get a lot of humidity with our summers and more often than not it is usually hot and humid or pouring rain.  Not complaining though, after a cold winter the heat is great.

 

Boo, i've been on the MTX for a year now and not much side-effects at all.  My only concern is I can't drink.  Haven't had a beer in a year and a half.  Now thats something to cry about!!!!  sad

Kidding aside, it's not that bad.

hey guys.. I talked to the general surgeon.. and she is concerned about the gallbladder, and hemangioma.. she said she's going to talk to the radiologist about it some more.. 'cause it says there is air around the hemangioma, and there shouldn't be.. so she's supposed to let me know something soon.. she also thinks I have a hernia.. which would explain the pain I've been having.. I meet with the GYN on the 26th.. so if they decide to remove the cyst, they are going to go in and fix the hernia (if need be) and take my gallbladder at the same time.. a 3 in 1 surgery! :)

Since hubby is still Active Duty, I fall under him for insurance.. so all is good there yally.. :) :) Now if I could just find a job! :)

I checked my hotmail acct Jody, and I didn't see an email from you, but I will check the healingwell one and see.. :)

All is good here.. just really tired.. I need a nap.. hope all is well with everyone..

Ducky, I hope all of this works out well for you and soon, it can feel like an eternity trying to get even one major issue sorted out and with all you have going on it has to be extreemly frustrating.
Raven, I hope those B-12 shots help with the fatique.
Jody I think we all need to do a cyber cookie exchange-I need new cookie receips and I think I can smell yours baking in the oven all the way out here.
Well, other than lingering allergies I am doing great. However, I just got a letter from my insurance company and my primary care physician is no longer taking my insurance so I must find a new one (don't you think my doctor would have told me that?)

I'm told those B vitamin shots are like a burst of energy. I hope that is true for you and in a good, managable way.

Ducky, the right job is waiting for you. You'll find it, it is just frustrating as heck when you're still looking. I know only too well. Hang in there.

Thanks for asking - I'm doing better, but still very fatigued and with that tickle/cough in chest. It comes and goes in severity. I started taking some 24 hour decongestant and it does help some. At about 22 hours the cough gets really bad again - don't even need a watch to tell me it's time to take the medicine! <sigh!>

Raven...Just because you are on the MTX doesn't mean you can't have a drink every now and then, the key is moderation.  If  you would like to have a drink just don't have it the day of  your dose or the day before or after.  I take MTX, and there have been a few times I have had a beer and it has not affected my labs or made me ill.

Yally...By the end of the week, I'm feeling like you, just trying to get a few things done! and I over did it today and the hips are feeling it right about now.

Ducky... It sounds like you are going to have major surgery.  Do you know when you will have this done  It sounds like it could be major abdominal surgery? Mine were always about 6 weeks recovery time. At  least the hernia explains your pain? I don't know much about them except my fil has one and has for years but they tell him he needs to lose weight before he can have the surgery done. The good thing is that you will be on your husbands insurance.

Not much going  on around here, I have a 4 page paper to write that is due next Monday and I'm the queen of procrastination..literally. Time to finally get started on it.  Have a great evening everyone.

hope this finds everyone enjoying there day! scool

 

boo hubby had 7 yes 7 flights cancel on him to oklahoma over the past 2 days and he finally arrived at 3 am!  everything from engine troubles to weather issues.  he tried as many airlines and equally different routes all cancelled on him to no avail!  I am glad we didnt have to put all those flight charges on our credit card!  what a mess to figure out later!  so he has arrived and just ask for yallys hubby! 

 

how is everyone else doing?   weather i am certain is playing havoc with many a joint around our globe!  me i am finally going back to my doc to see about getting rid of this cold!  still have a sore throat and a killer cough and i am on weeek 4!  i need to get some meds into me so i dont hurt so badly...... but i cant with this dang cold! 

 

jody how is the party planning?  i didnt miss it did i?  the last few weeks have been a blur with illness and stress i am so sorry.... lumi

 

duck - glad all is still covered with hubby......  any finds yet?  what about disability?  would you qualify since they made you retire?  it would supplement income of course i think it takes like years to get but heck maybe try?  idk  i pray for ya everyday.

 

boo how are you doing and hubby these days..... he still havin health issues...... i know that must be stressful to say the least.  everyone has such stress no wonder we are all ill!

 

bear any takeers yet on the ol homestead?????  you too are approaching a finacial limmit me thinks soon and i so worry about you and this on your health.  send a shout if ya can  hugs....... bear ones!

Yally..That is crazy about your hubby and his flights! Glad to hear he finally arrived at his destination.  Still working on my paper and it's due next Monday...I find it a challenge to get things done with the kiddos here at home, yesterday after watching movies and baking cookies, I finally wrote a page?  I'm hanging in there and doing the Enbrel twice a week has really made a difference, and I find myself looking forward to injection day, how creepy is that? My oldest son who is going to turn 16 very soon decided to move to his dads and is now working and my paper is actually on blended families and in my research I came across a lot of information regarding teen boys and how it is natural for them to gravitate towards their fathers, so while it is hard that he is not here, he needed to be with his dad.

So you are not on any meds for the RA?  Sounds like it's time to get some antibiotics? Were you on the Enbrel? Can you get a Medrol dose pack or some pred to get you over the painful hump until your cold subsides? I know when we are sick the flares always seem to be so much worse! Have you made an appointment with your doc?

Hi everyone,

I have been having some mild pains in my joints i.e, few fingers, left big toe, elbows, shoulder and knees.  These pains comes and goes with a little swelling in my left ankle.  My doc said my esr test was very high and my uric acid is elevated.  She recommended me to a specialist.  I did other blood test for lupus, RA and some types of cancer, they were all negative.

The specialist has me repeating the esr and uric acid test, i am to get result this week.  Can anyone help.  She says it might be Gout.  I dont know nothing about this illness.

Sorry i didnt introduce myself but i am a bit frustrated.  I commend the people who start sites like these and also the ones who share their experiences.

Junie, they are thinking about gout due to the elevated uric acid levels but this sounds more like RA.
gout usually results in excruciating pain due to chrystals forming in the joint space. High uric acid levels usually accompany gout but do not neccessarily indicate gout. The definitive test for gout involves a joint tap where they remove some fluid from the joint and examine it for chrystals. Gout is treated with a combination of medicine and a low purine diet.
The mild pain and multiple joint involvement sounds more like RA to me. Other people will be along soon to give additional opinions and more information and by the way welcome to the forum.

Yally, I hope you start feeling better soon. Infections are bad enough but no meds for the RA must be just about unbearable.
I am hanging in there, actually doing quite well-NO PRED! The mtx is really helping and now that the side effects have gone away I am quite thrilled with it.
The weather and other things have been odd around here for while with flood warnings and tons or rain all through May. Then we had the worst thunderstorms about ten days ago with all the power going out in the region-some people still don't have power. Now there was a series of water main breaks (four of them at last count) during the last 48 hours so we have to boil our water and all resteraunts are closed-grocery store delis and hot food service are closed. Just boiling enough water for the dog is about all I can handle.

Thanks for responding.  I have gotton back the results and they were all normal.  I am suppose to see the doctor on the 26th for review.  I did not mention that I have anxiety disorder and panic attacks for almost 8 years.  My blood pressure has been up and down since my baby who is 14 months.  I fretted for about a month after i was told that it is possible that i might have cancer or lupus.  My doctor said some pain I am feeling can be associated with stress.

To be honest since last night I have not had much pain.  I really love this site and I will let you guys know what is up with me.

Thanks again for concern.  I will be here to talk to you guys as much as I can.

welcome junie! i would have like sj recommend possible gout? but then i am not a doc so i can only guess. sorry you are going thru so much. dont fret the unkown and find a good doc who listens and explains things. the better you understand what is being look for and done the less worrysome all will be. we wish you much luck!

me yep i have a whole cabinet full of new meds! medrol pack and avelox and benzonatate! whoo hoo hope to on the mend soon!

m23 sounds like the paper will turn out to be more than an assisgnment. I hear your heart..... ya want what is best but gonna miss him ....... look at the bright side you had him for the sweet years, no he is entering the terrible six teens! lol hugs to ya

Yally..Are you taking your Medrol dose pack right  now then? Those ALWAYS got me over my humps when I was in a horrible flare, so I hope you are on the mend very soon.

Sj..the Medrol is similar to pred only you take it in a tapering fashion for so many days usually 6 or 7 days total and then thats it.  It's great if you are in a severe flare and you don't have to worry about staying on it, because it can normally get rid of the inflammation.  I have always liked the Medrol packs.

Junie..Welcome to the forum, and I hope you get some answers soon.  It does sound like you could have gout but then I'm  not a doctor either. My father in law has gout but his lifestyle is the cause of his gout (drinking and eating high fat foods) this doesn't seem to be your case.  Anxiety can also cause strange aches and pains as well so it is really hard to  say.  Even if your tests come back within normal range most doctors will still treat your symptoms of joint pain so finding a good doctor is key.  Good luck to you.

Oh Happy Hump night to you all lol!!

I think I'm a bit loony tonight, visions of cookie dough dancing in my head.  the cookie baking is DONE!!!  Yes Mom, lots of raisins in those oatmeal cookies, send me your address, i'll gladly send you some...sure have more than enough to spare...the freezer is absolutley bulging.  I don't know what on earth is wrong with me, but once I get started, I bake in mammoth proportions...must be some kind of strange sickness heehe.

Also ended up making sugar cookies, molasses,and peanut butter along with the others I did last week. Cannot possibly do enough walking or gym work to make up for all of this, but like I said before, baking truly is some sort of therapy for me...i guess it's been a LONG session this time.

Good luck on the paper mom...I wish I could read it!  Sounds like it will be really helpful for you and your son as well.  You are a wonderful mom, it's so clear from the way you post about your kids...your kids are so blessed to have you help the navigate through all of this...Ijust know they will come out fine, and so will you.

Yally...here's praying those meds kick in really quick for you, dear.  You've been sick far too long....wish I could afford to fly to Buffalo and make you some soup ( I could send some cookies!!!)  SJ...so glad to hear you are doing so well...have to confess I'm a little jealous!  the past week was a little rough (maybe standing in the kitchen on tile floors for hours on end, mixing bowl after bowl of cookie dough didn't help me, duh?)  We've also had some rainy, very humid weather, and as you have said, doesn't do too much good for the joints.  Hips and knees have been letting me know that they are NOT happy with me.  But, I think it's finally letting up. Those thumbs joints are giving me fits, too, very painful to lift the little ones lately. So,  went out and bought some of the glucosamine stuff, going to give it a try for a few months.

Only a couple more days to get ready for Mom's party...praying, really praying for good weather! Really do wish I had more time to spend getting the yard spruced up, cleaning the house, etc.  But, there were just too many cookies to bake lol...so it's going to have to be good enough as is, I guess. 

Oh!  Junie, welcome to the forum!!  I sure hope you get the answers you need, you'll get lots of support here...we are a crazy group, but the folks here are the best! Please keep posting, we're all here to help.

Jody...Wow, I wish I enjoyed baking as much as you do!! I like making the cookies I guess but the mess afterwards is another story!! Sounds like you have tons of cookies, your husband must love you for all of those cookies..my husband would be in heaven :) I think as long as you make them and don't eat them you should be okay tongue but then what fun is that right? Sorry to hear you have been hurting, you probably overdid it just a bit? but then don't we all?  The rainy weather you had probably didn't help the joints any either.

You know we never get tired of your "talking"!

Camama, you probably have left already but enjoy your vacation..how fun!!! I'm jealous! I guess I missed where you were going but have a great time!

Nope, no news yet.. I had a check up with my rheumy today.. and all is good.. going to stay on the MTX (20mg) and Enbrel for now.. I don't have to go back for 3 months! Woo-hoo! I have my GYN appt on the 26th.. I'm thinking I'll hear something then.. *hopefully*.. :)
