Would anyone know? I had broke my leg both Tib +Fib about 8 weeks ago and now in a cast below the knee, in 2 more weeks I will have to back to the doc and they think that they will put me in a walking Boot.

My question is ,that I just starting to take Methotrexate 7.5mg with prednisone 10mg and folic acid, WILL these have any effect on the Rest of my healying process of my leg.

My doc wanted me to start a week before I broke my leg but I didn't ,I told her that I would think about taking the Methotrexate. lol then I broke my leg.

I wish I could help you but I'm so new to the Methotrexate I'm not sure if it would effect your healing process. I would definitely check with your doctors though!!! I hope your leg heals soon!!!

Methotrexate works by stopping cell division it affect the cells that are dividing fastest the most I would think that would include healing bones. Prednisone can result in bone loss which might effect bone healing. Since I don't have any direct knowledge of wether those drugs would effect bone recovery but logically it sounds like they could I would talke to my rhuemy and my orthopidist before starting either of those meds.
Once you get the okay to take them there are some things that can help make it easier to take the mtx. Start taking the folic acid now and take it every day. Once you start the mtx keep in mind that side effects like nausia or tiredness can be mitigated by taking more folic acid. Drink extra water the day of and the day after your mtx dose. Good luck.

Well I started to take the Methotrexate 7.5mg with prednisone 10mg and folic acid,,and Nothing yet has felt different. Didn't get sick the first day or the 2nd day.and now its the 3rd day and I feel good.Just wanted to let people know the reaction form the pills.I hope that it helped someone out.

Hi Jonny,
I take 25mg MTX and also 10mg pred. I had a bowel resection last September while taking these meds and I healed within the 'normal' time.The Methotrexate I had to stop taking two weeks prior to surgery and then resume a week later, the pred I took the whole time. I too was worried about the healing process but I was fine.

Hi  Joanne and everyone else.

The romee is going to jack up the meds in 1 week to about 14mg. and then a week later it will be up to about 21mg. I guess this is the Norm,I want to ask her if the dose will drop back down to about 7mg just to keep everything under control and not to Over drug me.

I just have 1 week and 3 days to get my fiberglass cast off my leg and get what they call a walking boot.That will be great.Then I can drive my car again and do things for myself.I never ask anyone to do stuff for me.But I always help everyone else out.I do Plumbing,Heating,Remodeling,Built houses, Buy and sell real estate,[it not worth renting to people Did that] and Day trade stocks.

May be I hope that I will be able to ride my motorcycle next week,well she misses me.She's a nice girl,takes me were ever I want to go and gets about 55 miles to a gallon.
