Doctor says facet injections may help?

  My doctor says I may benefit from facet injections in my lumbar spine.  I am newly dx with arthritis and it has been giving me a lot of trouble in my lower back, buttocks and thigh.  It changes from side to side.  I have a difficult time getting into a comfortable position to relieve the pressure when it hurts in my buttocks and leg.  I take mobic, but was only taking it as needed; now I am going to beging taking it everyday.  They say it is up to me if I am ready for this treatment - that I can wait if I want and just call them when I am ready.  I actually had to see the PA about this, because I had to change my appointment and my doctor was on vacation, but that is what he had told me before when the test results from the mri came back.  The PA told me that it is like an epidural and that I would have a consultation with the person doing it before it was actually done.  She said that it has a 70% success rate, but the other percent of the time it doesn't work and they will not guarantee that it will work.  Also, she says that I am young (39y/o) and that it may give me some better quality of life.  I am not sure if I should do this or not and I was wondering if any of you have had these type injections and if so, what it entails and did it work for you.  I would love to hear your stories, so that it will help me to decide.

I noticed you take Mobic. I did at one time and I called it my miracle drug. I had to stop because of stomach issues. I hope you get and stay with great results from it. I wish I could have continued. I have been in chronic pain since I was around 37. I am now 51. I just started taking Enbrel and I am anticipating good results. Of course I have more heath issues than RA, but the others are fairly well controlled. I do wish you good luck.

I had injection , just 1 thus far into SI joint
was not guaranteed relief, was told it was called a NERVE BLOCK
which means pain is blocked; and I would be able to function better

I had a severe falre up of pain.. after the block.. for 10 days...
I was then "numbed" almost like a dead feeling... in SI joint area, Butt
for about 4-5 days

that passed
and I struggled again for a few weeks


I was to have a 2nd injection.. butt at the time my pain levels were about at a 2 out of 10 ; live able. and becaue I reacted so badly to teh 1 st injection
why would I miss owrk, unpaid & submit myself to that just to ahve a week pain free?

doesn't make sense make it worse for 2 weeks. to ahve 1 week better

the injection "med"// also caused a problem with migraines..
I have had 5 migraines in one week following procedure, then more in the 2 months
following

my Reflexologist said... she was sure that what ever they put in me to nerve block, my body was ,... rejecting
LOUDLY


so I am going an alternate route
