I am hanging in...have been down lately and i don't know why.  it is true that you have to really question the docs now.  there is so much going on in medicine.

me i am hanging in there!  First - no computer time for mama. _thats me!

 

seems a computer is the way to keep in touch with italy and is needed for homework etc etc etc so when do i get on? 5 am!

 

the new job is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  i am working no less than 10 hours a day and often more!   yesterday was the first day in weeks

i worked 8-5. whoo hoo ad i am breaking every labor law becasue i have not taken as much as a pee break in my work day for 3 weeks now!

still loosing weight though!  Had to fire a girl the other day.  hated to do it - gave her every opportunity to improve and even brought in outside

 help but it just wasnt working.  honestly i had the best day yesterday with her gone.  everything was a well oiled machine and i feel bad but i

was swimming against a strong current and it just had to be done.  Feel like a horrible person for doing it but it may have saved my health.

 

Speaking of which- i am hanging in there.  the weather is changing so i am waiting for signs of change in my body and thus far i am  for the

most part hanging in there.  Humira seems to be doing the job. 

 

i am very low in calcium and B12 - suppose to contact my doc about that but no time right now.  could the meds be doing that to me?   anybody know?

anyone else the same?  i havent had time to google it for myself yet .......

 

well i will try to get back sooner as the son is going to an AFS retreat this weekend with the program so i should get computer time! whoohoo!

Yally...my lab work also came back for being low in b12, but I take b12 so not sure what to think on that one, maybe try the shots to give you a boost if you are super low? Glad to see you post!

Oh, I'm still hear moaning daily....my poor husband has his own issues and I dominate the day with my tears, complaints, and labored sighs.   It's amazing he hasn't put me out to pasture.

Yally, I hear you about your meds. I get to the point, I try to swallow them and they come right back up. I took someone's suggestion here to take them with a swig of soda....which I was often doing until these issues I'm having came up and I swore of any soda for now. I do want to point out - there are lots of those "energy" drinks and vitamin powders to flavor your water (like Crystal Light single packets) that have B vitamins in them. I don't know how good or safe they are, but I occasionally drink them when I haven't taken my pills or feel I might need an extra boost. Odwalla makes a yummy Berry "B" boost, but it's super expensive for more than an occasional treat. And that other manufacturer that's been around longer...their name escapes me at the moment, but they make one too.....Both are supposed to be all natural (fruit drinks) with no added junk.

I agree, I hate RA.  The dose pack my doc gave me for bronchitis did nothing for my joints and being off mtx for three weeks while my immune system was raging was aweful. I hope my rhuemy has her magic wand all charged up for my appointment tomorrow.

Ducky, thank you so much for letting us know that Erin is doing well.

I saw my rhuemy yesterday. She told me to suck it up and deal. Then she put me back on an 8 week schedule instead of three months. I knew she would do that.

Sj...Glad to hear you go to the rheumy..are you back on the MTX? I normally go every 8 weeks as well.  I go in next week and have decided to just stick it out instead of calling and whining that my medrol pack didn't work, since I had one day of relief on it..I guess I will save my complaining for next Tuesday.  I've never been told to suck it up, but there are times when he is truly puzzled as to what to do with me.

Raven..Glad to hear you are doing well..Just the same here too.  Kids are in school, so doing the kid shuffle of activities and driving back and forth.  I have to agree where did the time go to? It is Fall here and the weather is turning cooler..

Erin..Happy to hear you are okay..we were all very concerned!!

Yes, I am back on my mtx. My doc is awesome but I was whineing perhaps a bit more then was warrented so she told me to give the meds more time and basically that when you get sick-you are likely to hurt. I am feeling better now (at least when I haven't decided that since I do feel okay I CAN exersize for 40 minutes).
I get to see my baby nephews tomorrow.

Yally, sorry to hear you are doing so poorly...get back on those meds, silly girl!

I've been almost 2 weeks w/o Arava - of course, the Rhuemy never called me back about taking the cholestrotime (???) to get it out of my system. I've been too ill to take the plaquenil regularly, and we've had the Santa Anas coming in with the hot wind followed by drizzle and cold weather. THe combination of the 3 is not doing me good....

I'm on a new blood pressure med, have a referral to a gastro doc, taking zantac 2x a day to help the stomach and breathing on top of the Nexium daily (cardiologist said the bp med I was on may have been making the wheezing worse, that's why I was switched), basically...I'm an up and down rollercoaster with everything. It's not fun. I hope my joints don't get worse and I can stay healthy since with this bp issue, I can't take cold meds. I have been taking the chewable C at least once a day (I just couldn't add another pill to swallow since I can barely take the ones I'm supposed to!)

The good news is, with my strict dieting for the last month, I've lost 18 pounds so far. Only 4 times that left to loose.

Jody..so good to hear from you! I have to say I was getting worried about you!! So sorry you have had so much going on in your family, that happens and we get busy.  It looks like we are all flaring and it is frustrating isn't it? Are you still taking the Enbrel?? I haven't started the Arava yet, I'm trying to get up the nerve to take another drug that can potentially harm my liver..but yes, I'm getting desperate.  I have had several abdominal surgeries and in the last couple of days my hip pain ranks up there with post-op pain, there is just no getting comfortable, no sitting, no standing, nothing. I just feel hopeless that this is never going to get better

I'm thankful to hear your mom sold her home and that your tests came back without change that is such good news

Camama...Your weight loss is quite and accommplishment I'm so proud of you, and yes you still have some to go and that can be frustrating but you are on your way!! I'm sorry you have been too sick to take the Plaquenil but hopefully you can get back on that, it works so well!!!

Yally...If you are out there, I hope you are back on track with meds..I know it's a pain taking them, but you know you need them.  I hope your pain is easing some..

On a lighter note, I have a boys will be boys story to share..My 14 year old son and his friend decided they would order pizza from a local restaurant and have it delivered to school at lunch time the pizza guy told my son it would be about 40 minutes..perfect timing thought my son, however, he didn't take into account the fact that the pizza delivery guy might show up early.  The pizza delivery guy showed up 10 minutes early, with pizza's and drinks in hand at the office, all the while calling my son on his cell phone, who knew it was the pizza guy with his pizzas.   Finally, my son arrived at the office, along with his friend to pay for their pizza's etc and the rest of the day everytime they passed a teacher they were told to never order pizza again! What a fiasco!

Camama...Thanks, my husband and I found it amusing.  My son is always finding himself in one of those situations for whatever reason   Teens!

So I've been taking Topamax for several years now and I found out recently that joint pain can be a side effect? I have to wonder if it is the cause of my pain..and because I only take it for the visual auras, nothing major, I'm seriously considering going down on the dose or stopping it to see if my joint pain goes away.  I began the Topamax before I started seeing the rheumy for my joint pain, and all of my tests have always returned normal, even my sed rate.  I guess I'm pretty desperate to stop hurting and if it is something as simple as one of my meds..My husband thinks I'm grasping at straws so we will see.

Camama..Hang in there, and the more you think about the pounds, the worse it is! Just concentrate on what you have been doing Although, I know its so tough to exercise through joint pain..maybe yoga? That is gentle on the joints.

hey everyone! its bad me! i know i cant be alone out there thinking i am doing ok maybe i dont need these drugs? but this one was bad and i am getting a bit better but honestly i am so depressed i hate where i am in life and i hate not being happy. i am filling in at work til they hire someone and it is physically and emotionally taking the life out of me. i work 10 hours without even a pee break and cry the entire way home everyday. i dont eat all day because i have no relief and i come home to stressed and exhausted. Jody i have not gotten your messages because i have not turned on my cell in over a week. i am so depressed and in pain unalbe to eat because i feel so stressed and like garbage. i have lost 30 pounds which on the outside looks great but inside something is up? i cnat just quit the economy sucks - can i say that? so here i sit full of tears not wanting to go to work and praying to God this will pass and i still wil have a job.

i am so sorry many of you also are not doing well. i so want to think i do not have this crappy diagnosis - how can it be? i know i am suppose to be the happy lady here and i really was that person for all of you but i am so in the dumps maybe i just need a bear hug? idk. well time to get on my way and struggle through another day. no worries . hugs tears and love yally

I wish our dear Bear would come around and give you that bear hug...I know he would if he was reading this...in the meantime..PLEASE know that I am thinking of you and sending as much love and prayers your way as I can possibly deliver....Ijust HATE it that I can't hop a plane to New York.  There isn't a one of us here that you haven't lifted up with your love and humor, it kills me to know that you are feeling so down, and we can't help you in return.   You were so excited about the job change, I am so so sorry that it has turned out this way...what on earth can I say or do to help???  Give me a call, day or night..you know I am here for you if you need.

Raven..I'm so glad you had a nice camping trip!  We used to go camping alot with our boys, I really miss it. I also really miss the fall in the north...it is so gorgeous..I have only been able to make one trip back during the fall since we moved to Florida...I keep promising to make a trip with our kids to see the colors..but we haven't made it.   As far as the teenagers and common sense go....I'm still waiting, and ours go from age 32 to 23!   However..they are all boys afterall..and that just means they are mini-men..so maybe this is as good as it gets??? Just kidding really...I do love our boys like crazy...they are good guys...but males still the same lol.  Seriously, it seems like once they got to be about juniors in high school things calmed down alot...it's so hard on them..middle school, puberty.. trying to find their way somewhere between being boys and becoming young men.  They have an awful lot to navigate, and society adds alot of pressure.  Don't know about girls...doesn't seem like it could be alot different though. I don't think I would want to grow up in today's world, it's scary.

Mom...how are you doing?  Any improvement in the pain?  Your son sounds like a real treasure..I mean that seriously...I loved his ingenuity...you'll be telling that story for years to come...when our boys get together and start telling all those things they used to do...it's so funny.  They have a million of 'em...and I really wonder how any of us survived!  There is SO much I'm glad I never knew about!  Yes, I'm still taking enbrel...plaquenil too.  But, this is the worst achy spell I've had in a while now, so I'm trying not to get too down about it.  But..this has been rough...shed a few tears myself that last few days..feeling kind of sorry for myself...but it helps so much to come here to the site.  Yes, we are all in the same boat..and when I read about how much more pain the rest of you are in and how you're coping..it makes me give myself a good kick in the backside and try and get on with it.  You are all my inspiration!
