ANA and Cancer

I am told my ANA is high, however, the test show that I don't have RA.  I have found out since these test I have a squamous cell carcinoma - skin cancer - which I was told 2 years ago this was just a wart by a doctor, now the dermatologist has biopsied it and tells me differently, my questions is:  can anyone possibly tell me if having Cancer make your AnA high?  I've yet to see the doctor since she called me and this information has just about scared me silly.  Any info any of you have would be greatlyyyyyyyy appreciated.  Thanks

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Skin cancer is very curable so although it is scary you should be fine with treatment! Removing the offending skin is usually all the treatment you need. As for you ANA, many people have positive ANA's for no reason. I think they say about 1% of the population has a positive ANA with no other problems. So unless you have something else going on, the ANA is nothing to worry about. Just keep an eye on it every couple years. I am not sure how high it is but there are alot of people with elevated ANA's who are having symptoms that still cant get a diagnosis. I would leave it alone especially for insurance reasons. If you pursue it and get a diagnosis of Lupus or RA from a doctor and don't need treatment for anything, you will have problems with life and health insurance forever.
