I'm trying to find some people that have had their thyroid removed. I would like to know if it was easier to control your numbers before or after surgery. If you felt better before or after surgery things like that.

Hey Oma.. I have had my thyroid removed.. I had Grave's Disease.. I felt MUCH better after the surgery.. however, I have had a lot of problems health wise since then.. a lot of them are AI based.. so I don't think that having the surgery
opened the door for my other ailments.. but I have felt worse since having it removed.. I think it was inevitable.

Thank you, Did you find it easier to control your TSH levels after surgery?

That is a constant battle.. I have had my thyroid out for 10 years, and my levels change so much.. it's ridiculous!

237 mcg? that's an odd number... how long have you been at this dosage?

Oh, I'm on 175 mcg.. and have been for about
2 months.. just down from 225... but I have a feeling, it is going back up... this fluctuation is ridiculous!

They just put me at that dosage about
a week ago, before that I was at 212. I take 3 pills a day, 1 - 100 , 1 - 112 and 1 - 25. I keep going back and forth about
whether to have the surgery or not. I go in next week for biopsy to see if the nodules are cancer or not but what scares me is the right side is so enlarged and so dense they can't see whats in there to even do a biopsy on that side.

I didn't have a choice, I failed the medicine and was pregnant.. so they took mine out.. if they didn't I would have lost my son.. thankfully, he is 10 today.. so I can deal with everything else, now that he is ok..
have they tried to burn it (radiation)?

Am very glad to hear that your son is doing well. That had to be a very scary situation. No they have not tried radiation. I go today for a biopsy on the left lob. The right lob is so dense they can't even see in it, so all they know is that it is enlarged.

Well had the biopsy today, won't know results for 5 to 7 days. I thought it was pretty funny when the nurse looked at the doctor during the ultra sound at the beginning and said wow looks like a gumball machine in there. ****
