I'm sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find what I am looking for thru the search so if there is an older post that someone knows about, please point me in the right direction.

I have been on Celebrex now for 3 weeks for OA in my fingers.  I have found that it doesn't really help much with the pain so I was wondering if anyone else has had success with this medication?  I am on 200mgs to be taken once a day.  I take it at night and my mornings are a bit better in regard to the pain in my hips and knees but I still can't bend my fingers without clenching my teeth in pain.  I have a limitation of pain meds I can use because of my UC and my severe allergy to codeine.

Celebrex only mildly took the edge off my multiple arthritic sites. I started to have horrid swelling in my legs and hands and had to stop it. I gained 8 pounds in 4 days! Was only on the Celebrex for about 7 days so it might not been long enough to find out if it was more effective then my brief experience.

Ides, what pain meds do you take to control your pain?

Hi,

I'm sorry the Celebrex isn't really helping your pain, but there are many other options to try. If you do try something else, always ask your doc if he/she has samples first, that way you don't waste your money on a script if the meds don't really work.

I have tried Celebrex many times and unfortunately, it doesn't really help me either. It is a similar drug to Vioxx and Bextra and before they were taken off the market, I had tried Bextra and that one actually worked great for me. But for some reason the Celebrex does not.

If you feel it's not helping then I would say to discuss it with your doc and keep trying other meds until you find one that hopefully does help.

Hi,

I take a glucosomine+chondritin+MSM supplement, deer velvet supplement and regular gelatin from the supermarket (mix up the gelatin and take it with filtered water).

No pain whatsoever. Worth a try and cheaper...with no side effects.
