I have been on Humira for five years now and I must say that it has improved my RA, however, I have recently paid a price for the relief that I got because due to the fact that the Humira lowered my immune system I contacted a staph infection/mrsa. I had to be taken off of the humira and even at that it took four months to rebuild my immune system enough to shake the staph infection and that was With the help of antibiotics. The staph infection began with me getting what appeared to be a small pimple without a head about a week after the injection and I didn't think much of it because it soon went away but after awhile it got worse and the pimple looking lesions were all over my body and they itched like poison ivy. I felt and looked like a monster. This began the last week of Nov and it's now the first week in April and I'm on my last round of antibiotics but the staph was so resistant that it took 2 different kinds of antibiotics to kick it. Other than this problem and extreme loss of hair I have done well on Humira. Moral of the story is to WATCH FOR ANY SIGNS OF SMALL PIMPLE LOOKING LESIONS AFTER INJECTIONS, IF YOU NOTICE THEM, STOP THE HUMIRA AND GET TO the Rhummy at once.

I have 3 different skin issues going on - fungal, eczema, and staph, plus a bacterial eye infection (bletharitis). My doc doesn't think it's related to the Humira. The dermatologist isn't so sure. I don't know what's worse. The disease or the cure. I have crohns and have been doing so well with my symptoms and pain. Everything is clearing up except the staph. I have been on 2 different oral antibiotics and started a topical antibiotic this week. I had 2 new spots starting. I developed 4 more overnight. They hurt so bad. I know more people have to be having this problem. I have called my gastro to tell them about the skin issues but no one seems to think it's a problem but me!

I was on Humira for a short time. I stopped because I did not see enough improvement to warrant the risks.

I never get sick but after my first injection I got a sinus infection and later I got a very stubborn yeast infection.

I'm not sure if it was a coincidence or not.

I was on Humira, but stopped taking it because it "burned" while injecting.  My doctor told me that it was due to preservatives used in the drug so that it would last for two weeks before having to take another dose.

I have a severe phobia of needles (and zero pain tolerance) and having to only inject myself twice a month instead of weekly, sounded like a good idea.

Boy, was I wrong.  I am now on Enbrel (a weekly injection) and there is very little burning.  This drug is just as good as Humira, but a lot less painful.
