I have some probs that I haven't seen listed

Does anyone out there have problems with erythema nodosum or pyoderma gangrenosum?

I was diagnosed with Crohn's in "88 and had two bowel resections in "89 and "94.  Since then I was in remission for a while but then started to develop problems with red bumps on my shins, then they would go away but then after a while those red bumps would turn into pyoderma gangrenosum, which is frankly, the most horrible condition, in which, I would develop actual holes in my shins that would feel like my skin was being eaten alive!  My GI tried different meds and then suggested Remicade.   OMG!  My miracle drug!  It could clear up my problem and then when I would start getting another spot, I would get Remicade and it would heal it!  They told me it was a manifestation of Crohn's disease.  I have many more details but was just wondering if there was anyone else with this prob before I get into all that.

Hi Wearyone. I was diagnosed by a dermatologist and my GI dr. Unfortunately the dermatologist did a biopsy which later turned into another hole-sore. The Remicade is definitely a wonder drug for me and I've been getting it for many years. However, I'm wondering if I can ever get off of the Remicade. My skin seems to know when my 8 weeks of being fine is done. But I would rather take my chances with Remicade than go thru the awful ordeal of pyoderma gangrenosum! I'm so sorry that you have been living with sores on your feet/legs for so long, maybe this could be your answer.

Thanks, I was told that by someone else too. I have been chatting with the people on the Crohn's site now.
