hand hurt all the time... please read as i am new here...

i dont know if i have arthritis but my hands hurt all the time........... i dont like to have people touch them even.. my feel hurt when i even place them on the foot rest in my recliner, on on the bed. i sit with my feet off the edge of the bed or so they are turned on the sides but never resting on my heals..

i am so sick of my hands hurting all the time..  my insuriance is not good so i dont want to go to the dr for this yet... but this has been going on for a few years now and not getting any better. only getting worse..

is there anything i can take over the counter that would help.............

I really think you should go to the doctors, if your hands and feet hurt that bad it is not normal. You need to go and get some medications prescribed to help you out. There could be many reasons for your pain.  I am no doctor.  Do you think that its arthritis?...do you take any meds for pain? like even just tylenol? do you have inflammation? tylenol for arthritis might help. But I really hope you go to the doctors, I had really bad pain in both my hands like you it hurt just for people to touch my hands. Then my feet started hurting, and then knees, ankles...pretty much every joint you can think of hurts.  I went to the doctor and got in to see a rhuematologist right away.  I am now on meds for RA.  Pain is your body's warning sign that something isnt right, please go to a doctor and get help. Please keep us posted on how you are doing. This site is full of many caring people who will listen to you, and tell you of their experiences. take care

Hands and feet are usually the joints first affected by RA. It's nothing to fool around with. I'd get to a doctor so if it is you can get on meds that will prevent progression.

how do they know if you have it.. do you have to get blood test.. i want to go to the doctors for it but just seem to not be able to afford it.. we have a 6 grand deductialbe every year...... and that is alot of money...............:( what do the do to find out if you have it.. i have a spot the back of my hand what is soft also. it dents in alot.. and hurts.. does anyone have this..

i m sry that u r in so much pain.even i have the same problem & my wrist hurts too..
U can try using cord liver fish oil which u can get in any vitamin store.it helps reduce arithritis pain & if u take it continously for months then it will go away for some people.well i have seen results so do try it...have it 1 tablespoon in the morning after breakfast & after dinner.

what does your wrist feel like ?? my husband said my wrist feels to him like it is melting away..it is soft.. and squishy.. really werid and sore

well my wrist r like they have lot of inflamation & swelling.i have a lump kind of thing on my bone of wrist.it basically has no sense like its numb.but they are(my wrist) really stiff & i have a lot of movemnt problem...

it will get worse & may be later u will have to under go surgery...see any disease if it is not taken care of will get worse & cause more discomfort & disadvantage for u & some times they have very severe effect ...
so please better go to a rheumatologist & check with them whats wrong with u....coz if it RA then it will only get worse & cause a lot of problem for u...please do see a rheumy..pleasee coz i know how much it hurts & causes difficulty in ur day to day life....

My hands and feet were first symptom and still the worse area of my RA...
I have to often were open -back shoes (clogs, crocss) becuase i can not have anything touching my right heel. The tendon is thick and swollen .
I would see a doctor SOONER than later. as already posted, it will only get worse.

I agree...see a doctor right away preferably a rhuematologist. Regular doctors don't really understand treating arthritis agressively. You will destroy your joints and be able to do nothing if you don't check this out. Think quality of life here. Do you want to have fingers that are distorted and wrists destroyed to the point you can't use them/  if it is your feet, be in a wheelchair?

I only take methotrexate and my RA is controlled. No swelling and very little pain.

Good luck and it would be wonderful if you checked this out and report back that it isn't arthritis. Let's hope    smile

RA is not something you want to leave untreated. It is sometimes hard to get a diagnosis. I am sero negative so had it not been for my very severe presentation of all joints symmetrically aching like they were being sawed off with no anesthesia, huge swelling that would not go down, joints that were so hot they sweat, dropped 18 lbs. in 2 weeks,etc. etc. Actually after all my blood work proved negative they sent me for a CT of the head, chest and abdomen. They thought maybe I had a malignancy.
My goodness- I've said all this just to say for the most part it got cheap to treat when I had my dx of RA. MTX co pay is $5 a month and so is the Humira using Abbott's prescrip assistance program.
Please get checked out- RA untreated can cripple you.

hi mommyphotographer, you must get seen by a rheumy. Like everyone says, if it is RA or a related illness, it can only get worse!! your joints will become deformed, the pain will increase, and you dont know what damage could be done to your organs. It really sounds likely that you have an auto immune disease, I am not trying to be a doctor, just using common sense!! I hope the prblem with insurance works out for you. I am in UK so have a totally different system. Its wrong that you cant get treatment due to finances. please get help.
