Update & Rheum nurse had me so upset & angry!

Hi guys! Before I start I just wanna say a big thank you for all your kindness, support and advice recently. Well I spoke to my GP today & He said I could take 6 spoons of liquid morphine on top of the morphine pills which was good coz i'd been having 4-5. Told him alot more pain, swelling & heat since stopped pred a wk last Tues. Coz i'm so young doesn't wanna give me higher dose morph & doesn't wanna give more pred coz supposed to be seeing If mtx shots are working. He said to call Rheum nurse & he'll see me Sat am. Left message on nurse answerphone & she finally called back @ 5pm. When told her put on morph 2 1/2 wks ago, she commented in a tone of voice that basically said "what do you need that for?". Then told her things alot worse with pain etc since stopped steroids a wk Tues ago. Even though at last apt she have me the depot steroid shot & script for pred I had to tell her i'd been on 10mg 4wks 5mg 4wks. Then she said in a horrible way "no wonder things got worse you're supposed to come of 1mg a wk not just stop at 5. Didn't you know that?" I said I didn't but was due to see her before end 8wks but no apt sent & when myself & GP called we were both told I wouldn't be seen unless i'd had 6 mtx shots & was still in pain (It'll be my fith tomorrow). To top it off, in a patronising way she then said "oh sweetie, do u think we should see u in clinic?" well it's been left that she'll TRY & get me an apt for next wk. I don't cry or get angry easily but when I came off the phone I burst into tears and was so angry. Am I being unreasonable? I've just had enough and want some relief from all this. Hi Jo! I was on the pred for 8wks. 4wks at 10mg & 4wks at 5mg. Apparently I should've come off it 1mg a week after that. I was on mtx pills for 7months before I started the shots with Only a slight improvement unfortunately! Thanks for replying Jo X

Im sorry the oral MTX didnt work the first time, maybe the shots need time to work - not sure how all that works - these meds are complicated

You must be in excrutiating pain to be taking morphine, Im sorry you are suffering so.

Has your Rheumy suggested Remicade or Humira? Or have you been down that road already?

Hi guys! Bit of a result! Saw my Rheumy today (infact I saw the head of Rheumatology). I'm back on pred 5mg for 4wks, then coming off 1mg a wk till finished. I'm increasing my mtx shots for 1month then increasing again. He said he thinks it's time for Biologics but I'm in remission from a serious brain disease that very nearly killed me and He has to check the Biologics won't flare it up again. It's all a bit of a waiting game but at least something is being done . Thanks guys for all your support XXX
