New to this-have had one blood test

I have had a horrible episode with my knee, the pain and swelling is causing me to use either a cane or walker to get around. My family doctor did a blood test, which came back with a marker of 124.

She sent me to a rheumatologist, who would neither confirm or deny RA. She drained a bit of fluid from my knee and is sending it off.

I'm scared and not sure what she is really looking for. She said the fluid looked infected.

Does anyone know what 124 marker means? Thanks so much.

I don't know without knowing marker for what. If your Rhuematoid Factor was 124 it is pretty inconclusive though suggests RA.
If the fluid looked infected you may have an infection in your joint rather than RA.
They did a diagnostic tap on my knee before I was diagnosed as well.
For now try to relax and wait for the results.

Thank you so much for the info. My whole leg is very painful and I think if the swelling would go down it wouldn't be so bad.

I really don't know greyhound- but I wish you all the best in getting a diagnosis and a remedy. Let us know how you make out.

I don't know which test you were given but I test negative for the RA Factor in my blood but test positive in my CCP test which is far more accurate. about a third of people who have RA don't test positive for the RA factor but about 99% of people who test positive on the CCP have RA.
