Hi, Sherry,
What you are describing is exactly what happened to me last May. I was out of town for the weekend at a seminar w/my husband and I was miserable. I could barely walk. When I took off my shoes and socks that night, I discovered hard swollen joints at the base of my three middle toes on both feet. I, too, was tested for RA. So far, they say it is Erosive Inflammator Osteorarthritis, but the rheumy seems to be watching me closely. I may have seronegative RA. That is what my GP thinks. The only thing that helped me w/the pain that weekend was Celebrex, but it only took the edge off. I cannot take NSAIDs anymore, so I take Tramadol. I, too, get sharp, shooting pains in my toes and in my fingers. They are random and move around. Sorry you are having this issue. I know how painful it is and how it adversely affects your mobility. (((Hugs)))
