Remicade and now methotrexate what to expect

Hello,

My name is Heather and I am new to this board.  I have been on the Crohn's disease board for a little while.  I have been having some pretty severe joint pain and swelling for the last two months.  I was able to finally see a Rheumatologist this past week and she said that my symptoms are all pointing to RA.  I will be starting Methotrexate and prednisone to try and get this joint stuff under control. 

I was wondering if any of you all have taken Remicade and Methotrexate at the same time?  I am just wondering what to expect with both.  I am often pretty tired with after my remicade treatment.  Is it going to be even worse now that I am on both?

Heather: I took methotrexate and remicade for about 7 years without any problems and it worked quite well at controlling RA. I went off for about two years and have gone back remicade about six months ago. I held off on the methotrexate until about two months ago. I'm not impressed this time around by the drugs. They aren't giving me the energy that they did the first time around and joints that haven't bother me in decades are flaring. I'm not sure how long my rheumatologist will want me to continue but my sixth treatment is coming up next month. I hope the drug helps you.

Thanks for your response!  It is good to hear that being on both was helpful to you without too many side effects.
