Good morning everyone,

I have a question about Humira side effects. I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis a bit back. I am currently taking Methotrexate and Humira (in addition to a few others) as treatment. I began the Humira January 2011 and have since experienced small pus filled bumps across my chest and neck area. They do not hurt; only itch a little. I know this is a side effect of the Humira. Does anyone have any advice on how to prevent this or to make them less noticable?

I take Simponi, another anti-TNF like Humira, and have noticed similar chest break-outs. I'm not sure if using an antiseptic type soap would help prevent this. My skin is very sensitive and I use a special soap. I have also noticed the breakouts are worse if I wear tops that don't "breathe." I have no breakout if I wear cotton or a low neckline.

If you can see a dermatologist, he/she might be able to prescribe something to help. If you notice the problem getting worse, make sure you let the doctor know. There have been some who have gotten really ill from the skin infections.

I have been on Humira 18 months and had this happen for the first time after my last shot. I actually thought it might have been the start of shingles as I had been in contact with someone who has just been diagnosed with them. I didnt realise this was a side effect from Humira.

When this happened to me I felt quite warm and my chest was hot - then I had the 3 blister like lumps on my chest - not sure if this is what you had.

I take my shot again this Wed. so will monitor what happens from then.

Thanks fors posting this as I would not have had any idea that it was the Humira doing this.
