My best friend has passed..

I'm so sorry for the loss you must be feeling. I know this kind of thing seems to make no sense...at least she passed peacefully surrounded by love. I hope I can be so lucky when my time comes...

weary my thoughts are with you, it is so hard especilly when they have been suffering you are tinged with sadness at the loss  and relief for them, all you can do is be a friend for the family grieve with them and take care of yourself.

Her pain and suffering is over. She sings around the throne today.

You could ask for potluck from their church members.
If that's not possible then order some deli trays with meat, fruit, and veggies and have a simple buffet. Have some rolls and sweet tea and lemonade. If you feel the need for a dessert of some type something like lemonbars or something chocolate (which is a good mood food).

Yesterday was her service. I don't know if I posted here that in the last month of her life she was so ill she was not up to any visitors so knowing she was feeling very chilled I bought a big pink fleece blanket that had hearts all over it and I mailed it with a note saying If you ever feel like you need me and I'm not there wrap yourself in my blanket of love and know I am with you spiritually. Well when I walked into the visitation room- on half the casket was a spray of pink roses the other half was draped with the blanket! I was so touched. Her whole family made it a point to tell me how much she had treasured that blanket and how once she got it she was never without it. The sister who was helping care for her told me she was sorry I hadn't been allowed to visit and did I understand? I said I did understand and her privacy and comfort level had been my #1 concern even though I had longed to see her. See when I had my onset of RA I was so ill I had denied anyone from visiting me too-so I completely understood. See how life experiences prepare you for what comes next in your life? Had I not gone through that-I probably would have felt very hurt that she did not let me visit.
At the end of the service we went outside and the funeral director spoke a spiritual piece and then they released 3 white doves.
It was a very beautiful service through and through.

Thanks for liking my idea go. I got the idea from when my kids were litte. My mom always crocheted us little blankets and when the kids were small and feeling ill I used to tell them to wrap up in grandma's blanket of love. I wasn't sure how it would go over to an adult but from what I hear it went very well. I'm so glad it brought my friend comfort. Her husband had taken a picture of her wrapped in it on her last "good" day about a week before she passed

Hi Weary, well I hope your in better spirits now. It is so hard loosing someone you care about, me and my husband have loss numerous family to cancer. Its just so sad to she. I know u longed to see her when she was sick but when my step dad was dying from cancer I really hated to see him like that. I came around as much as I could handle to see him that way. I think you got spared even more heartache. It is just so unbearing to see someone dying like that espiecally to cancer. Hope all is well and your feeling a little better. Remember its always good to get out your feelings it helps you get through the stages of grief.
