Haven't been on here for a long, long time...but this forum used to be a lifesaver for me.  Hoping I can get some help once again.  Looks like my doctor will be starting me on Remicade within the next few weeks, and  I am very nervous about starting this drug.  Any input?  I've been reading about the side effects, and other things that people say they have experienced on this med...and it can sound a little scary.  I do home daycare, so of course, the risk of infections worries me alot, but have also read some reports of weight gain?  Has this been an issue with any of you?

I used Enbrel for several years, and had great success with it until it ran out on me cry ...for the past three and a half months I have been trying weekly doses of Humira..but that really has not been effective at all...so this is what the dr thinks we should do.

Would sure appreciate any information you'd like to share!

So many of the arthritis medicines are scary. I just started on planquail and mobic.

My mom has RA and is on Remicade and has no side effects from it. I used to be on it to treat my UC (didn't work for my UC) and I didn't experience any problems from it either. My mom has done really well on it. If you read the side effects to any drug it will scare the heck out of you. Good luck!

I just found this site tonight while searching for info on Enbrel.  Looks like it will be a great resource.

Jody, I have been on Remicade for the last 11 years for my RA.  I haven't had any side effects.  It has been a fabulous drug for me, RA has basically been a non issue in my life--until now.  It has lost its effectiveness over the last few months.  Went to see my Rheumy today and she is switching me to Enbrel.  I sure hope it will get the flare ups back under control.  Hope Remicade works as well for you as it did for me.

Jody: I'm back on Remicade after a two year hiatus. Previously I took the drug for over 7 years. It's effective and I've had no side effects including going back on the drug which is when rejection or allergic reaction is most likely. So far it's been okay. On this second round, the effects are not as dramatic as the first time but I think my energy is better with the drug. Good luck.
