Asymmetrical polyarthritis

I am a 21 year old boy, I was totally fit before last Jan I used to play sports 2-3 years ago, last Jan suddenly one day when I woke up my right buttock area started to pain, but I thought that it might be a muscle pull or something so I overlooked it, but the pain gradually increased over some days, so I went to a orthopedic doctor, she mishandled the case and I could hardly walk then the pain became excruciating, was getting stabbing pains if I moved my right leg even an inch, then my right knee and ankle began weak, swollen and painful, my whole body became weak pain in shoulders, elbow, stiff neck, left heels. Then I went to another city to see a rheumatologist, he admitted me in the hospital, did the tests and said that I was having sacroiliitis, (HLAB27 neg, RF neg, AntiCCP pos 110) and inflammation in other joints and having asymmetrical polyarthritis, my mother has rheumatoid arthritis and I might have genetically got it. So the doctor told me that I will not be able to do any sportive activities in the future, and the joint damage that has already taken place that will not heal, and just the joint damage can be delayed by taking medicines, I have been taking the medicines prescribed by the rheumatologist from 3.5 months and the joints still pain a bit and I am not physically fit till now, so I am very very upset and dont know what to do, I am just "21-year-old" and have been cursed by this disease, my career has not yet begun, I dont know what to do. If you have any known person with this type of problem please tell me that will I be able to live a normal life, and if yes then for how long. I would be very thankful to you.

I'm so sorry you are going through this! I was just diagnosed with RA about 6 weeks ago and it is a very scary time for me! I have a grandmother and aunt with RA so I have known about the disease all my life, but it's very different when it is yourself.

Here's the thing... you will be able to live a "normal" life, however your normal will be different from someone else's normal and it will most likely be different than what it has been up until now. So far I have found that the support of family and close friends is huge, but there are times when you need to hear from others who know what you are going through. That's where these blogs are a sanity-saver!! While it is terrible that so many others have this disease, it is so very comforting and informative to read others' stories!

I have had symptoms for years but could not find a Dr to put the pieces together to give me help! Plus, my family dr acted like it was all in my head and told me I was just under too much stress and needed to eat healthier! I actually saw a rheumy for fibromyalgia and the first visit, within the first 10 min of talking to her, she said she was sure I had RA. I began crying instantly, feeling like it was a crippling death sentence. But she reassured me that treatments have come such a long way and that once we find the right combo I will be feeling much better! So here I wait for my new meds to kick in, which by the way based on what I have read about some can take anywhere from 6weeks to 6 months to really work to their top level!

So do some homework, look for real support, and understand that you are not alone and you will feel better and will feel more in control of your disease!

First, i want to apologize for my English, is not my native language.
My mother has this terrible disease. I don;t know a lot of details because she is a very very proud lady who is keeping all the bad things for herself but I begin to notice that she is in pain and also her hands are deformed.
She is telling me that the injections are making her sick and she can not go to work because of them so.. she is skipping them all the time. When she is in big pain, only then she is taking some pills.
I.. like all the people here, am desperate! I can not see her like this, and from what I know it will be worse and worse... it can not be possible!!
My question is: Do you know some medicine, clinic, some test drugs, some... miracle in Europe? I think we can not afford to come to Us... but if you know something, just write.
